A power surge is an increase in voltage. It can damage sensitive electronic equipment like computers. Some electronic home entertainment equipment may also be vulnerable. Protecting your valuable electronic equipment and data from surges or other changes in the power supply is usually simple and low cost. Your equipment dealer can advise on the device(s) and procedures that can protect your equipment from power surges.

Many electronic devices, such as radios, televisions, wireless telephones, and remote controls, use infrared light to transmit signals. Infrequently, these types of electronic devices accidentally interpret the infrared light coming from a compact fluorescent bulb as a signal, causing the electronic device to temporarily malfunction or stop working. (For example, your television might suddenly change channels.

Storms in all shapes and forms create havoc with trees throughout the country. All electrical devices should be un-plugged during the fogging process, as with any solution, excess moisture must be wiped down or air dried. Extensive testing has been done on computer components without any adverse effects. Television Interference (TVI) occurs when components in ballast generates a magnetic field. This field may interfere with the amplification of the AM component of a received signal when the ballast is in close proximity to the receiver. Litetronics lamps are produced to greatly reduce TVI.
