Unfinished hardwood is very porous and may absorb some of the chemicals from the adhesive from the Floor Protection, possibly causing stain to absorb unevenly.

Both choices have their advantages. If you are trying to match to an existing hardwood floor, you may want to go with an unfinished floor so it can be stained to match. However, this will mean finishing will be done onsite, resulting in more noise, dust and delays in using the room. Prefinished floors, on the other hand, are already finished with 10 coats of an aluminum oxide finish. This means you will get the convenience of not having to shut down the room while you finish the floor onsite.

Yes. There are all types of hardwood floor kits that can be installed. It is not recommend to use heavy tongue in groove type but you can use a lighter tongue in groove like Pergo etc.

Yes. Several of the major manufacturers of flooring are now designating the TiPe kombi Floor Cloth as their suggested maintenance system once floors have been installed. There are two reason: Moisture is the enemy of wood floors and the TiPe System performs great ...dry. Secondly, for scuff marks and stains, a moistened TiPe floor cloth is far superior to a wet anything. By the way, the cloths were designed to protrude beyond the holder for a reason.

We recommend that an unfinished hardwood floor be installed after the drywall is finished and the painter has sprayed on the primer coat, but before the trim carpenter has started the trim out.

These days, most floors installed are of the Pre-finished variety. We can come close to matching your old floor's color and shine, but we cannot match the old floor exactly. Due to the natural ambering of the polyurethane and the darkening of wood with age, exact matches are not possible. It will be necessary for the homeowner to be present while attempting to match a stain color and a signature of approval will be required.

DO NOT damp mop - Water and wood do not mix. Therefore, we suggest that you use the maintenance products and procedures recommended by the manufacturer of your floor.

No one can match finishes exactly, but an experienced professional with a good eye can get very close. For best results, consider refinishing the old floor with the same finish and sheen as the new one. Although wax finishes are easier to match, keep in mind that polyurethane finishes provide more protection than wax in kitchens.

Before using any throw rugs on your wood floor you should know the type of finish you have on the floor. All rugs should be non-staining, meaning the colored dyes will not bleed. Generally in the presence of moisture, some dyes used in rugs may bleed through onto your floor and discolor the wood floors surface. Also, be sure the rug does not have a rough backing material that may scratch the surface of the floor. Clean dirt and debris from under the rug regularly.

Solid 3/4" Hardwood flooring cannot be installed below grade (below the soil line) or over concrete. When a solid product encounters moisture it reacts very negatively. Therefore, a laminate or engineered flooring must be used. Laminate flooring is constructed by fusing 4-plys of material together to form a product with unprecedented strength and durability. An engineered product is very similar with the exception that they usually have a real wood layer on top of the constructed core.
