We grant 1.5 quarter credits for each semester credit. (Multiply the number of semester credits by 1.5 for the number of quarter credits.) Students transferring from a school on the semester system will not lose credits; their credits are just expressed in a different way. One semester course is generally equivalent to one quarter course. Occasionally, two semester courses, taken in sequence may be equal to three quarter courses.

No. The first semester is the same. After that the course requirements diverge. The second semester is the same for most curriculums with the exception of chemistry and programming languages. The following curriculums, regardless of engineering college, require the second semester of chemistry (CHM 102 at UNCW): aerospace, biological, chemical, environmental, and materials science and engineering. It is an option in civil engineering.

No. Spertus requires that a minimum of 45 credits be registered and successfully completed through Spertus.

The program was set up in consultation with UBC. It is a list of courses similar enough to the UBC courses that students completing the 14 ETP courses at UCFV could be considered equivalent to students doing first year engineering at UBC. UVic generally recognizes completion of the ETP as completion of their first year Engineering as well.

If a student is transferring from a quarter system to APU, that student will not lose units. The units are simply calculated into the semester system. However, APU operates on a semester system and accepts semester units at face value. Quarter units are divided by 1.5 to calculate equivalent semester units. A quarter unit accounts for two-thirds of a semester unit.
