If clients have a religious faith then that resource is ordinarily incorporated into the counseling process. The Center regularly works with people of Christian, Jewish, Buddhist and other faiths. The Center also works respectfully with people who have no religious faith. Religion is not imposed on any of the Center’s clients, but is drawn upon as a resource when appropriate.

My spiritual counseling sessions are entirely non-denominational. The principles used in the counseling sessions are based on Universal Laws rather than individual religions. While the interpretation of Universal Laws may vary from one religion to religion, they do form the basis of most religions. Of course not. For the most part, people who use our services are interested in their personal growth and adjustment to the world around them. Many students face normal developmental concerns and academic pressures while at Concordia, and, at times, they may feel acute anxiety, anger, sadness or depression. For these problems, as well as for more serious crises, it is helpful to gain the perspective of an unbiased person.

Counseling Services offers individual, relationship and group counseling to undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in at least one course for credit. There is no limit to the number of sessions a student may have while enrolled in the college. Educational programs such as workshops, lectures, and awareness days are also offered.

There are a number of administrative requirements, such as filing a Notice of Registered Office if there is a change and filing a Notice of Directors if there is a change in directors. I will try to incorporate anything you send. The most difficult things are those that are too large. If you send something with a large image, it can be photographed, reduced, and then transfered to fabric in order for it to fit.

I believe that some people need a supernatural explanation for how things work in the world. I don't. If you need your faith to get you through the day, or your faith makes you a better and stronger person, more power to you. If you use your faith to belittle, oppress, hate, or objectify others, get out of my face.

Many of us may think of religion when we think of ritual, but ritual is used in every aspect of life. It's so much a part of us that we just don't notice it. Ritual simply means that some things are done more or less the same way each time. Almost all school assemblies, for example, start with the principal or some other official calling for the attention of the group. Then the group is led in the Pledge of Allegiance. A school choir or the entire group may sing the school song. That's a ritual.

Peace and justice are central values in all religions, and those who can create peace out of enmity are respected and considered role models. Religions remind humanity of the interconnectedness of humanity and God - even if they define God as an old man with a beard upstairs who watches everything you do; and does not like most of what you do. For the majority of religions that is true. However, people have moved away from traditional religion and gathered in what are cslled Pentecostal or New Age religions in a desperate search for truth. They find themselves in places that still follow the old traditions of Trinity, Jesus Christ and the laws of 666 so they may not stay very long. The church still uses music, usually too loud for spiritual people to tolerate, and other things to encourage their flocks.

For over 30 years, George has followed the beliefs and practices of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), though he is not a member of ISKCON. While there are similarities, ISKCON is not a branch of Hinduism. George's mother, Louise, was Roman Catholic and George was baptized Catholic. However, George states, "[Though] I almost became a Catholic when I was 11 or 12, I couldn't relate to Christ being the only Son of God."

Reiki is not a religion. It holds no doctrines, creeds or contraindications to the Universal Laws of Consciousness and Love. Reiki is very spiritual in nature, but there is no belief required in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki will work whether believed or not! Within a few seconds of placing your hands on yourself or another, the palms may start to pulse and will become potentially hot/cold or start to tingle. These sensations may continue for the whole treatment.

Transhumanism is a philosophical and cultural movement concerned with promoting responsible ways of using technology to enhance human capacities and to increase the scope of human flourishing. While not a religion, transhumanism might serve a few of the same functions that people have traditionally sought in religion. It offers a sense of direction and purpose and suggests a vision that humans can achieve something greater than our present condition.
