A Trust is better than a survivorship feature for many reasons. First, in most cases, it is unwise to create a joint tenancy with your children. Furthermore, you are more likely to get a full step up in cost basis thru a trust whereas you may only get a half step up in basis with a survivorship feature.

The LAF is issuing a limited research RFP in 2007 for community-based participatory research planning grants. We will not be issuing a general survivorship research RFP this year. Please check back in January 2008 for more information about our 2008 RFP.

The LAF defines cancer survivors as those who have been diagnosed with cancer as well as the people in their lives who are affected by the diagnosis, including family members, friends and caregivers. The LAF believes that survivorship begins at the moment of diagnosis and continues through the balance of life.
