To simplify the process of retaining and destroying files as required by your firm’s policy, it is important that the system track documents correctly. One aspect of tracking is identifying when a file is a version in the same document thread and when it is the start of a new one. To assist you in making the correct decision, the Document Retention service prompts every time you use Save As to create a new copy or version.

When you use a tracked file to create another file, you are prompted to decide whether the new file is in the same document thread or the start of a new document thread. This is the most convenient and reliable method of tracking documents if you are just starting to use the application.

If the document is a single-file document, when you click the ? icon, a Download button will be active. Click that and a dialog will appear which you can use to navigate to a folder on your computer to which you want to download the file.. To jump to a specific page, use the "Goto page" dialog box. This can be accessed by pressing "G" on your keyboard, or through the viewer's menu system. InDesign allows you to add a text box to mark where page numbers should go and then automatically edits the box to match the page number as specified in the pages palette. This should be done in the master, so go to your master and make a new text box. Place the text box on your page in the place where you want your page numbers to appear. Type any text you want to have appear before the number (so if you wanted it to say Page 1 rather than just 1, type Page into your text box.

You use page styles to change the format of pages in a document, including page orientation and margins, header and footer content, number of columns, etc. The SonicOffice Stylist contains several standard page styles that you can apply to pages. You can also create custom styles. To apply the new style to a single page, select the default page style you use for pages in the rest of the document in the Next Style field.
