Our system is designed to work with SMTP authentication (enabling instructions below). We do however have a backup system that may take up to one minute to enable mail delivery without SMTP authentication causing the 'Relaying Denied' error. Subsequent attempts should result in successful mail delivery.

The email server is not allowing you to send mail because it does not recognize your IP address. You are likely not connected to Grande directly, but rather (a) dialed into another provider, (b) at your office, or (c) travelling. Simply CHECK your email before attempting to send. This will permit your current location to send email for a period of 30 minutes. Each time you successfully check your email, your full 30 minute 'send window' will be refreshed.

SMTP has not implemented authentication any e-mail program can be misused by someone to send e-mails. To ensure that only authorised persons can send e-mails, authentication is necessary. SMTP authentication  (RFC 2554)is an extension of SMTP to enable e-mail programs to authenticate themselves to the e-mail server by way of a username/password. (Comparable to a POP3 logon.

DLS dialup customers should use mail.dls.net as the SMTP (outgoing) and POP3 (incoming) mail servers. For DLS web hosting customers, please see question 3.1. If you are dialing up outside of the Chicagoland area, you must use a mail client that supports SMTP authentication (such as Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger) and configure it to use the same settings as for POP3. For example, if your email address was joe@dls.net, you would use joe as the username for POP3 and for SMTP authentication.

This is probably because you set up your mail client to use ValueWeb's mail server to send mail via SMTP. Due to problems with spam being routed through ValueWeb's mail server, you must now use your internet service provider's mail server to send outgoing mail.

Under normal circumstances, the Apache access control modules will pass unrecognized user IDs on to the next access control module in line. Only if the user ID is recognized and the password is validated (or not) will it give the usual success or "authentication failed" messages.

There are two things that can cause this error. The first is that you have not logged in and checked your email within the past 20 minutes so your IP has not been given SMTP access. The 2nd is the program on the server that logs IP's for SMTP access has died. If you believe its the 2nd of the two, send in a ticket and we'll get things straightened out right away.

You can specify a list of "Local Mail Domains" ? only users who are members of one (or more) of these domains will be able to send and receive through this proxy. WinGate verifies this by checking the Email address of both the sender and recipients (via the "MAIL FROM" and "RCPT TO" commands specified in the SMTP protocol).

This message can be produced by any application linked to the WFDB library that attempts to read annotation files. In order to do so successfully, these applications need to find the annotation file for the annotator and input record you specify. The message indicates that the annotation file was not found in any of the expected places, or that it was unreadable. There are several common reasons why this can happen: The record name supplied to the application is not correct.

This is probably due the the fact you have the smtp hopper code compiled into your TNOS. The smtp hopper defaults to ON, at least in 1.14 TNOS. If the site you are mailing is down stream of a TheNet X1J type node/router, (or indeed any other router that does not handle SMTP connects) and you have a IP route set via one of these nodes, then the smtp hopper code will be trying to deliver your mail to this node!

You can select the "Local User Only" option in the Options dialogue. If this option is selected, only the local user can use Mail Direct as an SMTP server. Connections from other machines will be rejected.

We do not allow clients to use our server for outgoing mail for security and spamming protection. When you try to use mail.domain.com as your SMTP server, it will respond with an error. The fix is to use your ISP's SMTP server. Most ISPs use smtp.isp.dom as the outgoing server.

In order to successfully send mail through Access 1 mail servers your email client must pass your username and password before email is sent. The following instructions will instruct you on how to configure Outlook Express.

Our Outgoing (SMTP) mail server requires some kind of authentication of who you are, to ensure only authorised users can use our mail server. This error message means you have not authenticated. There are two ways of authenticating. When you download mail, you then have a window of a few minutes to send e-mail using our SMTP server provided you do not disconnect from the internet in between. In Outlook Express, the "Send and Receive" button does this the other way around.

Be sure to CHECK your mail via POP3 first. Due to widespread Internet SPAM abuse, we are unable to operate an "open relay" that would allow anyone to send mail from our server. As such, we use what's called "POP Authentication based selective relaying". When you authenticate via POP3, your IP address is added to a list of IP addresses that are temporarily allowed to relay through us without restrictions.

cablecom is taking a leading role among the large internet service providers (ISPs) in Switzerland. Around the world, SMTP authentication is already practised by several well-known ISPs. Many providers have now started accepting mails via SMTP only from e-mail programs that have previously been authenticated by the e-mail server. The reason for this is that it is almost impossible to control who sends mails to whom.

We are offering you a service that makes e-mailing even more convenient. SMTP with authentication gives you even more independence because it allows you to send and receive your e-mails via a non-cablecom internet account. This means you no longer have to reconfigure when you’re away from home, for example. cablecom can react immediately to a customer systematically sending spam e-mails or a worm-infected computer and block precisely that SMTP e-mail account (relaying).

In addition to providing the wrong username or password, this may also mean that your credit card expired or your account is on hold. Remember, if you change your password, our system can take up to 15 minutes for your new password to be put in place. If the error message includes, "exceeded limits on aucl" then you have too many connections open to our servers.

You are possibly trying to access a server that you did not purchase a subscription to, or that you may have typed your username and/or password incorrectly.
