The Satin finish is a matte finish and the easiest to maintain. Because it has a low sheen, it is very forgiving insofar as showing scratches, dents, and wear and tear over time. The Semi Gloss finish has some shine and is a little harder to maintain in that it will show scratches, dents and wear and tear sooner. The High Gloss finish is the hardest to maintain in that it shows everything - dust, dirt, scratches, dents, and wear and tear in general the quickest. See similar questions...

Graphi Studio Albums are printed with a lustre surface only. This is excellent as it resists finger prints so much better than gloss. For all other Presentations, I use a lustre surface. Make sure not to graduate too quickly from a 180 file to the white block. Try using the white block buffer a little longer than seems necessary. Be sure to wipe all grit and dust from the nail and the 3-way buffer, as even the smallest amount of dust will prevent a high gloss. Cuticle oil may be helpful. Regarding plating: Plating is not only cosmetic but it protects you from the very slight chance of brass poisoning. Our metal JodyJazz mouthpieces are made from a solid bar of brass. Then there are three layers of plating starting with Copper then Silver or Nickel and then the Gold. We use heavy Gold in 24kts. Over the long run the top layer of Gold can start to wear off.
