A cycle refers to the pump run time. A cycle starts when the pump starts and a cycle is completed when the pump stops. Pump starts and stops are determined by the pressure settings of the system. Below, we demonstrate a tank’s drawdown feature that assumes a water system with a 30/50-psi pressure setting. This means that the pump will start (“cut-in”) whenever the pressure inside a tank is reduced to 30 psi and will stop (“cut-out”) when the pressure reaches 50 psi.

Clearly, the dynamics of the menstrual cycle differ greatly between women. Length and regularity of the cycle may vary - between women or for an individual woman over time. However, if your menstrual cycle occurs more frequently than every 21 days - or if your cycle is longer than 35 days, your cycle can be considered a bit irregular. If your cycle consistently lasts more than 45 days, you may want to talk to your doctor.

A woman's menstrual cycle is not the same thing as her period. A period is just the days when a woman is actually having menstrual bleeding. Her cycle is the whole time from the beginning of one period until the beginning of the next period. A woman's menstrual cycle begins the first day of her period. It ends just before she starts her next period. So the first day of her period is Day 1 of her cycle.

If your cycles are occasionally irregular, you should not worry too much. However, if your menstrual period frequently occurs more often than every 21 days or less often than every 35 days, or if a period is missed altogether, your cycle can be considered irregular. Only women capable of a menstrual cycle can get pregnant naturally. The body makes chemicals and proteins called neurotransmitters and hormones which create the menstrual cycle. The neurotransmitters from the brain tell the pituitary, an organ found in the brain, to make and release protein signals that go to the ovary where an egg is developed. Estrogen is made by the ovary to help the egg develop and after the egg is released (ovulation) progesterone is made by the ovary.
