What is the difference between throughput and data transfer?

Wild Rose Internet
Throughput refers to the speed of an internet connection. This is generally measured in kilobits per second although Microsoft products (such as Windows) measure this in kilobytes per second. There are 8 bits in 1 byte. So if 512 kilobits per second refers to 512/8 = 64 kilobytes per second. Data transfer, on the other hand, refers to the amount of bandwidth over time and is generally measured using the gigabytes. For example you could transfer 1.3 GB over the last month.

What is the maximum data throughput?

FAQ's About GTEK Products
Up to 460.8 Kbps transmit and receive on all ports (depending on hardware and software configuration). Meets the demands of the next generation V.34 modems, V.FAST and ISDN modems. See similar questions...

How much data transfer will I need?

Web Hosting Universe -hosting FAQ host frequently asked ques...
You can figure out how much data transfer you will require by estimating your average page size (including graphics!) and multiplying it by the number of page views you expect to have in a month. For example: with an average page size of 50 KB, and around 2000 page views per day, you will transfer an average of 3 GB per month. See similar questions...

What is Throughput ?

High Speed Satellite Internet Access - Frequently Asked Ques...
You can see from the graphic below that each level of service has throughput levels from 300 up to 1000 Megabytes. You can think of these "throughput levels" as working like batteries, they have a certain amount of download power in them. The recovery rate is the rate at which the "battery" is recharged. For example, a customer on the Business Basic service has a throughput reserve of 500 MB. See similar questions...

What is the difference between batch and real time data transfer?

SkyeWired Mobile Field Service Management
The difference is that batch stores the data locally and then sends it all at once, whereas a real time data transfer occurs immediately after an activity. See similar questions...

What's the best throughput I can expect ?

news.answers/waffle-faq
With a 2400 baud modem, you should get anywhere between 200 and 220 cps unless you're transferring very small batches. With a Telebit Trailblazer Plus, you should expect something on the order of 800 to 1400+ characters/second to a similar modem. Watch your /waffle/admin/net file for details regarding your average characters per second. A drop off from what's 'normal' could indicate hardware problems or line problems. What options should be used with the throughput collector?

Garbage Collection - Frequently Asked Questions
The correct options to use depends on your application. Here are a few typical uses but none of these may be best for your application. Two application instances running on a large multi-processor server with 4gb of physical memory. Each java application instance is allocated a part of total system memory by an explicit specification of the maximum and minimum heap sizes. See similar questions...

What is the difference between physical port connectivity and actual maximum throughput?

ProCurve Networking by HP - Support - FAQs
The 7102dl will physically connect to four T1/E1 maximum, and the 7203dl will physically connect to 12 T1/E1 maximum. All ports can be enabled at the same time, in a "no shutdown" state, and functioning. The performance for the 7102dl is designed to support up to 4 T1/E1 connections at wire speed with full services enabled, and the 7203dl is designed to support up to eight T1/E1 connections at wire speed with full services enabled.
