Strictly speaking you can commence pilot training at any age, as long as you can reach all the controls! We suggest that the earliest you should start lessons is 14 years of age. long as you continue to pass your Class 2 medical exam, and remain healthy between examinations, there is no age restriction on a Private Pilot Licence. If you are not medically fit, or are uncomfortable about flying solo, you may wish to experience flight with our Fun Fly option.

No you cannot, a glider or planes only reaction to a steady wind, is that it's ground speed will vary while it's air speed remains basically constant (if the plane/glider is flying level...), depending on the direction of the glider. This may be an optical illusion, any time you fly an RC-model away from you, it can appear to be losing altitude, and when it's flying towards you, it can appear to be gaining altitude, due to the visual angle above the horizon that you're viewing the model with.

It begins by registering with the TSA and selecting a flight training provider. You'll then be required to submit some documentation, pay a $130 processing fee and provide your fingerprints to the TSA. I've gone through this process with one student so far and it's not terribly difficult or onerous. There are some quirks, but the TSA seems to be doing a pretty good job processing applications quickly.

Most of our students elect to pay as they go, however you can setup a pre-paid account if you wish. We accept all major credit cards, EFTPOS and cash. Watch out for flying schools that insist on paying in advance. They may have cash flow problems or use enforced pre-payment to make it difficult for you to change schools if you are unsatisfied.

Answer: It is very common for the top flying lines to stretch after some flight time with quad-line ram-air kites. This will definitely happen when using brand new flying lines. As the top lines stretch the flying angle of the kite (angle of attack) changes and too much 'brake' results. To correct this problem either add approximately six inches to the bottom/back lines, using two loops of 200lbs Dacron, OR shorten the top lines by approximately six inches.

The first step in determining whether or not flying is for you is to call and schedule for an introductory flight lesson. For new students of the Technique, one lesson (of 45 to 60 minutes) per week is a good starting point. After an introduction to the basic principles of the Technique, some students choose to study more intensively, while others may only wish to come every few weeks for a "refresher" or to work on new activities or habits they may have noticed in their lives.

There are 20 lessons per week in each of our standard intensive courses. If required, you can add extra classes for even more study.

When you take an online class, you have the luxury of not driving to campus every day as you would for a regular class. And of course, no one will know if you do the lessons in your pajamas and bunny slippers. But students often think an online class is less work. This is definitely not true! Assume that you will spend as many hours each week for this online class as you would for a normal one, including class time and homework.

Seven days a week with two sessions a day, except for weekends we only teach a morning session. We work around your schedule so please contact us when you want to make an appointment. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes early, which gives us time for introductions and to get your gear loaded in the boat. I tend to enjoy the double triangles (Blithe Spirits) most. They are amazingly stable, and I've never seen another kite that even comes close to looking like ours. Put them on a double frame and they are wonderful to see and fly.

The decorated side faces the flyer. The Sled and Malay Bird kits are coated with a writeable coating so that you can use crayons to color the kites. Those sides have the blue outlines imprinted on top of the coating. You may use permanent markers also. If you want to use the shiny, uncoated side, you may easily do so as the blue directional lines show through to the other side so you'll know where to put tape and sticks.

The Kites...on a Roll? are made of plastic, the sticks are wood and the string is wrapped around a plastic handle. The Fly Me Kite kits are made of paper. All the kits are made in the USA, except for the string/handle and are assembled in a sheltered workshop in Oberlin OH.
