Confusingly, vibrato is sometimes referred to as tremolo. Basically, tremolo is variance in volume, and vibrato is variance in pitch. Vibrato is a musical effect where the pitch or frequency of a note or sound is quickly and repeatedly raised and lowered over a small distance for the duration of that note or sound.

Vibrato is a modulated (up and down) change in pitch, such as you get when you wiggle your finger on a fretted string, or when you wiggle the whole neck or play with the whammy bar. Tremolo is a modulated change in volume, as if you were turning your amp's volume up and down quickly. Tremolo is common in surf music; vibrato is common in rock and blues. Your amp almost certainly has tremolo. Tremolo is much easier to achieve. While various claims have been made over the years, we're not aware of any guitar amps with true vibrato. This includes Magnatones and Fenders with "Vibr" as the first part of their name. Gerald Weber states in his Desktop Reference of Hip Vintage Guitar Amps that some Fenders have true vibrato. But really the main problem is that there are just *no tremolos that will work with a true compound scaled fingerboard. Occasionally there are people who want to make a point that vibrato is bad for the voice. They say that vibrato causes the muscles of the vocal cords to grow slack and “wear out” with age and much use. Of course, this is true of materials such as rubber, steel and plastic, but in the case of living muscle, exactly the opposite happens. The more you exercise a muscle, the stronger it becomes. On the EWI, pitchbend via the vibrato (bite) sensor always returns to center pitch after a very short time interval- even if you keep biting the mouthpiece. If you bite, the pitch goes in a positive direction. When you release, the bend goes in a negative direction. If at any point along the way you hold the bite at a certain level, the pitchbend data will always return to the zero point. Answer - You should be able to do this but it will take a lot of body modifications if it has a fixed bridge on it now. You should take it to a professional guitar tech, it's an involved procedure. All Floyd's are pretty much the same so it doesn't matter which one you buy. Answer - I take it you mean raising your action (distance the strings are from the fret board). YES! The Kahler Cam Operated Systems are made to work on any guitar but any retrofit requires some woodworking no matter what! The decision to make is whether you need a flat mount or stud mount system. Any way you go the guitar body must be routed with a 1" inch deep "T" shaped route. The Bearing Bolts PN# 8390 or Bearings PN# 8313 are dirty and gummed up from years of oils and grime. remove and clean or replace if necessary. It's possible that there is a notch worn in the Load Tension Leveler PN# 9404 pin hole. (it's hard to detect), and /or the Load Tension Leveler Pin PN# 8314 is bent or a foreign object is in there somewhere. Clean and replace these if they look bad. Floating tremolo systems are a pain to use at the best of times, and require care and love to get the things to work. Even the one on the Old Girl has its moments. Fit the extra spring to aid with return, make sure the nut is well lubricated, don't put strings on that are too light, possibly fit better machine heads if you have some cash, and try tuning the bottom 3 strings 'down' to the note, instead of 'up' like everyone always tells you (This really does work!).
