When I run the installer, it seems to be installing some completely different package or doesn't run at all.

It is easy to find the host id of your computer or server by first downloading and installing the Imagineer product you wish to use (monet, mokey, motor, mofex). Your hostid is shown in the top bar of the view license window. It will usually look like 000c36af30cd.

MATFOR is node-locked to a machine's Host ID. Hence, the Host ID has to be provided during the registration. Go to 'Start menu\Programs\MATFOR4\Utilities\Register MATFOR 4 in Fortran (or C++)', and the Host ID of your local machine will be shown in the registration program. (See below)

Crystal Ball is licensed to a specific host machine. To lock the software to a machine, a unique piece of information from that machine (the Host ID) is required. If you are using Timbuktu Pro to remotely logon to a machine that has Caps Lock enabled and your password has lower-case characters, you will need to hold down the shift key. This will allow you to type lower-case characters. In some cases users may not be able to enter keyboard information when trying to log into a remote Windows NT host. This is caused by a user hitting the Ctrl-Alt-Del keyboard combination on the guest keyboard. This sends a key down sequence to the host.
