This happens to be one of the first questions that may arise in that these two terms are more often interchangeably used. Yet there is a basic difference between the two. A plasma display lacks an internal tuner and therefore, it is closer to a computer monitor than a television. The first plasmas that came out did not include a built-in tuner.

If the script isn't working, yell for help as soon as you know that you cannot possibly deliver the goods. Your story editors can help you. Each pixel of a plasma display has phosphors. In a plasma display, when a pixel remains at maximum brightness for several minutes without interruption, it gets hot and a thin surface layer forms over the phosphor. This thin surface layer resists the penetration of the UV light that excites the phosphors during operation so the pixel shines less brightly.

r. The way a plasma TV works is by having cells containing red, blue, and green phosphors, pressed against small glass chambers containing gas in a plasma state. When the gas is energized by electrical impulses it emits ultraviolet light. When cells are struck with the UV light they display images.

For obvious reasons, the smaller the plasma display, the closer you can sit to it. These are just recommended viewing distances based on feedback from our customers as well as information from the manufacturers. Your kids may want to sit only 6' back and lick the screen during ice cream commercials.

Even though plasma TVs typically have a 160 degree viewing angle, tilt wall mounts may be purchased if the mantel is high. A tilt wall mount application will allow the user to tilt the unit from up to 15 to 25% vertically. With this mounting installation the user will have the choice between a flat or tilted affect while adding only 1.75 inches depth to the plasma TV. A flat wall mount can add as little as 1.25 inches to the depth. So, the difference is only half an inch.

Flat panel plasma display is one of the latest display technologies; it is capable of excellent image quality, with large, flat screen displays that are easily viewable in almost any environment. Plasma display panels consist of an array of cells, known as pixels, each of which is composed of three sub-pixels, corresponding to the colors red, green, and blue. Gas in the plasma state is used to react with phosphors in each sub-pixel to produce colored light (red, green, or blue).

Some Plasma TVs have a built-in analog tuner that will enable you to watch any "regular" television that would be available to a conventional television, though the picture quality would be about the same as a typical large-screen conventional TV. For those Plasma TVs that do not have the built in tuner, the signal can be passed through a satellite box, cable box, HDTV receiver, VCR/VHS device, or an outboard tuning device.

With early generation models the proper distance for viewing was 8 to 12ft. on a 42" plasma TV and 12 to 16ft. or more on a 50" plasma, but with the many advancements that have been made to the units, the latest 50" models can be viewed comfortably from 9ft. Though it is always a matter of preference.

Choosing between plasma and LCD has only become more difficult as the technologies get closer in price and performance. But decisions to choose one technology over the other have been based on a lot of misconceptions between plasma and LCD. The biggest misconception surrounds burn-in on plasmas. You really need to try hard to burn in a static image on plasma, and even if you do there are simple ways to correct this problem.

We suggest installing plasma displays at an altitude no higher than 5,500 ? 6,000 ft. At higher altitudes, the lower air pressure (typically below 800hPa) may cause the display to make a buzzing noise. Fujitsu's warranty does not cover excessive noise in low pressure environments, as this is not considered an operational problem of the unit.
