When should I replace ductwork?

Airnovations, LLC :: SETTING THE STANDARD FOR RESIDENTIAL / ...

This dirt must be physically scrubbed off the inside of the ducts in order to remove it. You may wish to replace ductwork that suffers from an excess of particulate build-up. Another reason to replace ductwork is if your existing ducts are not sized properly for your home. Keep in mind that duct requirements for air conditioning (cooling) are greater than for heating

Often it is best to leave it undisturbed or to paint it to seal the asbestos fibers. Sometimes it is best to remove all exposed asbestos, or at least the narrow strips that touch the furnace. As a homeowner, you can remove this yourself, however it can be dangerous and may contaminate your entire home. See similar questions...

Should I have my ductwork cleaned? Does McCullough do this?

McCullough Heating and Air Conditioning - Austin's ventilati...
McCullough does not recommend cleaning ducts unless some unusual event -- fire, water damage, etc. -- has contaminated them. Our position on duct cleaning is the same as the U.S. EPA’s recommendation.
