What is the voltage drop between the center stud (alternator terminal) and the battery terminals?
Cole Hersee Resource CenterAccording to the wiring diagram the battery to the "S" must be connected to the primary terminal (yellow wire). My alternator does not have an "S" terminal.
What is voltage drop?
Griffin Greenhouse & Nursery Supplies: Technical SupportIn a greenhouse, equipment can easily be hundreds of feet from the circuit breaker panel that feeds it power. Wires have resistance and resistance works against voltage. This effect is called voltage drop and relates directly to the efficiency of the equipment we connect with electrical wiring. Voltage drop also has another effect: the voltage doesn't just disappear, it gets converted into heat that is wasted, even though you pay for it on your utility bill. See similar questions...
My mechanic says I have a bad voltage regulator, and he has to replace my alternator. How come?
SSRSOUNY - Consumer Section - Frequently Asked QuestionsThe voltage regulator controls or regulates the alternator's output. Think of it as the brains of the charging system. It senses how much voltage is needed by your vehicle, then modifies the field current within the alternator so it puts out just the right amount of current. Too little current can allow the battery to run down while too much can damage it and other electrical and electronic components. See similar questions...
Do I need a voltage converter to use my battery charger in other countries?
EVOLT E-510 > Frequently Asked QuestionsThe BCM-1 Battery Charger (Item #260206) for the EVOLT E-510 is rated at 100-240 V AC and automatically adjusts itself for the local electrical current. However, you may have to get a set of plug adapters for the different wall outlets used in foreign countries. Plug adapter kits are available at electronics and luggage stores. The EVOLT E-510 accepts CompactFlash cards up to 8 GB capacity and supports Write Acceleration CompactFlash cards. See similar questions...
What voltage should I see at the battery?
KLR650 FAQThe no-load voltage is around 12.9 V, so anything less than that while the engine is running means that the battery is discharging. See similar questions...
What are terminals & why would I want terminal to terminal service?
Freight Dynamics freight shipping and packaging crating serv...Terminals are freight drop off and pick up locations, usually located in close proximity to major international airports. Usually, Freight companies as forwarding and receiving points for their shipments use freight terminals. Terminal freight shipping is a lot cheaper then door-to-door shipping. It is our pleasure to be able to offer our customers an option of shipping from a terminal, or to a terminal. See similar questions...
Why is voltage low on a new battery?
Icelltech Hearing Aid Batteries - Australian DistributorAccordingly, voltage measured right after removal of the tab is normally lower than specified voltage of 1.4Volt. This has nothing to do with battery capacity and you do not have to worry at all. It will be fully activated as you use the battery. We would like to suggest that you insert the battery into your hearing aid at least 1 minute after removal of the tab to allow for proper activation time. See similar questions...

How do I eliminate voltage drop?
Griffin Greenhouse & Nursery Supplies: Technical SupportWhile there's no way to completely eliminate voltage drops and other inefficiencies, you can minimize them by working with a design engineer who is familiar with greenhouses. A design engineer will work with you to provide an electrical system that meets your requirements for safety, efficiency, adequacy, convenience, and spare capacity. You'll need to coordinate both the design and installation phases of your electrical system with your local electric utility. See similar questions...
What voltage-drop values are expected?
Raychem Circuit Protection - Polyswitch™ Resettable De...This depends on the device in question. Typically the voltage drop of the device can be calculated if you know the resistance and the steady-state current flowing through the device. The value to use for the resistance of the PolySwitch™ device is the R1max value to determine maximum voltage drop. A typical voltage drop can be calculated by using the Rmax value or, if that is not supplied, then a value that is the average of Rmin and R1max. See similar questions...
Can I connect the charger to only one battery? What do I do with the unused terminals?

Will a higher amp alternator hurt my battery or charging system?
FAQ-AlternatorsNo. A good rule of thumb is that more amps are not harmful, but more voltage is. If you look at electrical power like water, amperage is equivalent to the volume of water, and voltage is equivalent to water pressure. More amperage is like having a larger pool of water to draw from. See similar questions...
QUESTION: I am installing a Ford alternator and external voltage regulator. How do I wire them?
CJ2A-FAQAll of the above wires carry relatively little current. A #14 wire (check the package at the parts store) will be plenty heavy for these wires. Ground - There should be a #14 wire from this connection to one of the mounting screws on the base of the voltage regulator. You will need to make the following connections in addition to the above.
