No. Audio books, video tapes, computer programs, "new" (current year purchase) books are not exchanged between libraries. Current bestsellers are among materials that cannot be borrowed from other libraries.

The library gratefully accepts donations of books and audio-visual materials. Donations are reviewed by library staff and are either added to the library's collection or offered for sale at the Library Book Sale, generally held in the spring. Proceeds from the book sales are used to support the collections and services of the library. Gifts may be dropped off at any time at the library's Technical Processing Department.

Most people know audio books as books on tape. Audio books are usually spoken-word adaptations of books originally produced in print. Audio Books sometimes feature the author's own voice although many are given dramatic readings by one or more actors and/or at times embellished with sound effects.

Our primary focus is to publish the printed BNFC since it is this version that is used most extensively. The electronic versions of the BNFC are derived from the same database as the one we use for the paper copy. However, a number of tasks are required to adapt the database output for the electronic versions. These tasks are undertaken once the paper version has been sent away for printing. Unfortunately, this results in the electronic versions appearing shortly after the printed book.

We will be revising rulebooks (and some genre books) for sure, because we are making the Third Edition versions obsolete. We will not be revising worldbooks (Atlantis, Mars, Vikings, etc.) for the most part, because they do not contain enough rules to justify a new edition.

Audio books are bocoming increasingly popular, now even available as downloadable files for use on MP3 players. These malicious software have the ability to monitor keystrokes, change the default home page on the Web browser, read cookies, scan files on the hard drive, install other spyware programs and even spy other applications... The most successful practitioners integrate various components of the alternative cancer treatments for a better outcome.

Professional actors trained in audio narration read the books. Great care is taken to select the actor best able to reflect the book's tone and characters. The actors use different voices to differentiate characters.

Some librarians treat them as just another medium and shelve them alongside the print book--allowing the student to decide which format they will access. English teachers use them widely as an additional classroom resource to support the set text. In fact some schools now only set as class texts, books they know are also available in an audio format. Students find listening to a set text--especially a play, poetry or complex novel, adds a greater level of understanding.
