For best result, rototill or spade the area to a depth of 10 to 15 cm. (4 to 6 in.). Eliminate drainage problems by having soil slope away from foundations, etc. Soil test your lawn area with the assistance of qualified service in your area. Then rake in fertilizer, lime, peat, compost, etc. as need to a depth of 7 to 10 cm. (3 to 4 in.). Rake and smooth the soil removing rocks, roots, and large clods. Roll the area lightly with a lawn roller 1/3 full of water.

There is a common misconception that seeding is the best way to establish a lawn because it is much less expensive than sodding. In realty, sodding turns out to be less expensive over time once costs such as increased maintenance inputs and repair are accounted for. Add to that the instantaneous and finished look you get with sod and its clear to see that sodding is preferable in most instances.

Install your lawn immediately upon delivery. Begin watering lawn within 30 minutes of installation. Turf is a living plant that requires ground contact and moisture to survive! In hot weather, protect unlaid turf by placing stacks in shade, covering with moist burlap sacking, and/or sprinkling.Begin installing turf along the longest straight line, such as a driveway or sidewalk. Butt and push edges and ends against each other tightly, without stretching. Avoid gaps or overlaps.

Prepare the soil as if you were seeding. Measure the area to be sodded to calculate the quantity you'll need to order. Lay the first piece along a straight line such as a driveway or sidewalk. Install all additional pieces so the seams create a brick-like pattern. Apply at least one inch of water on the new sod, beginning within 30 minutes of laying down the first piece. KKeep the base soil moist with daily (or more frequent) watering for the next two weeks.

Each yard varies depending on sunlight versus shade, traffic, and customer preference. Centipede is the lowest priced and most common lawn grass in our area. Centipede is a low maintenance, medium width blade, crab-apple green colored sod. It has no shade or traffic tolerance. St. Augustine is for customers who need a shade tolerant sod. St. Augustine is a wide bladed sod and color varies by variety. It does not have a traffic tolerance.

Superoxide dismutase. This is an enzyme produced by the body to neutralize the superoxide radical. Superoxide is a messenger of inflammation and is involved in the body's autoimmune response. It exists in a yin-yang relationship with nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is a vasodilator that appears to be important for hair growth, while superoxide is a vasoconstrictor that may be part of the signaling mechanism that tells hair to stop growing.

The most important step before installing bark is to pull any weeds that have already begun to grow in your yard. It is not necessary to do more than that. Some people spray weed repellent before installation.

Yard waste is collected from April 1st through the second week of December every year. Leaves and lawn clippings will need to be placed in paper yard waste bags, available at your local hardware store, or placed in 32-gallon containers marked "yard waste" or "compost". Compost stickers are available from Rizzo or at the Township offices. Any limbs or branches over 2 inches in diameter and less than 6 inches will be picked up with the solid waste and need to be cut to 4 ft.
