Our customers report mowing 2 to 4 times per season. The rate of regrowth depends on the type of aquatic weeds, the temperature, the depth at which one is able to cut, etc. We've had some customers tell us their lily pads didn't regrow at all after having kept them under the surface for a season!

No. Mowing frequency varies by the season. In the spring, established lawns should be mown as soon as the grass greens and begins to grow. In the summer, close mowing (especially during hot weather) can weaken some grass varieties. As autumn approaches, cool-season grasses begin to grow faster and produce more clippings. Conversely, warm-season grasses begin to slow down. Adjust your mowing habits accordingly.

We recommend waiting at least one or two days before you water or mow. It is better to water a day before mowing to allow fertilizer to dissolve. Mowing is only a factor if you bag the clippings. You will be bagging up all of the beneficial chemicals or nutrients in the lawn. Remember summer applications need water more than others.

You can generally start mowing 3-4 weeks after seeding your Bermuda lawn. Occasionally if growth is rampant, you may need to mow within 2 weeks after planting. Thereafter, mowing will be required in a range of 3 to 7 days depending on various factors. Bermudas are mowed from around 3/8 inch to 1 & 1/2 inches in height. Lower mowings require more frequent mowing. Height below around 1 inch may require a "reel" type mower to prevent scalping.

Mowing heights vary depending on the dominant grasses in each lawn. As a rule of thumb Tall Fescues should be kept between 3-3 1/2", Bluegrasses should be kept at 2 1/2" and Zoysia should be kept at 1 1/2". These heights should be maintained throughout the growing season. Be careful not to let the lawn get so high that you cut off more than 1/3 of the plant when you mow. This can damage the plant and open it up for disease.

You can mow approximately 1 acre every 3 hours. The time spent will depend on the type and density of the weeds, your boat motor, etc. We suggest cutting at a slow, steady pace to prevent any serious damage in the event you encounter an obstacle. Several of our customers use two Lake Mowers™, one on each side of the boat, to cut a wider area in one pass.

It is best to have watered the application in, at least once, before mowing. If a granular application was applied, mowing can be done anytime.

Mowing can cause a problem with some aspects of the application. The granular fertilizer is not a problem because it can not be mowed up but there can be a problem with the liquid applications. As stated before they need adequate time to dry and soak into the plant. We recommend waiting until the next day after the application has been watered in. Aim to mow your lawn on 4- or 5-day intervals while it is growing most rapidly during the summer. That way you'll not remove more than one-third of its growth at any given time. Letting the grass grow taller weakens it. White grub worms (larval form of June beetles) devour turf roots (both bermuda and St. Augustine) leaving the grass dead and lifeless on top of the soil. Their prime season of activity starts 6 weeks after the major June beetle flight in early summer and continues until frost.

Yes. Using a Low cut blade, which will cut from 1 to 2.5 inches. This blade was developed and used in Europe, where they mow very soft grass, similar to our Winter Rye, and normally cut a lot lower than the average American user does. PowerMow.com does not recommend that the low cut option be used. We recommend the mower be set to the 2.5" setting for most lawns.

It is not a good idea to mow your lawn when it is wet. It can cause uneven mowing and ruts in your lawn. The clippings from mowing a wet lawn will be messy and they can mat and suffocate the grass. It is better to mow the grass when it is dry, even though it may look bad for a couple of days.

You can request a time of week (beginning of the week, near the weekend, etc.) and we will try to accommodate you. However, to maximize efficiency we try to mow all lawns in the same area on the same day, especially lawns in the same neighborhood. The most commonly requested days are Thursdays and Fridays, so while we will certainly take all requests into consideration, please understand that we are routing many customers and may not be able to meet everyone's scheduling requests.

While we COULD offer just mowing without any of the additional cleanup, we pride ourselves on the appearance of our lawns and therefore only offer one standard weekly maintenance package.
