The choice over whether to divide large plants really depends on your growing goals and situation. You may wish to grow the plant into a larger 'specimen plant' that will produce larger and more flowers reliably, or you may want to produce divisions for trade or sale if the plant is in demand. Because most of our plants 'work by producing seed, we are very hesitant to divide them unless they fall apart at a division point when they are repotted.

The best time to divide perennials depends on your climate. Here in Montana, it's usually mid to late April and early fall, from late August through September. In colder climates, spring division is preferred because it allows plants plenty of time to settle in before winter. In hot-summer climates, fall is the best time to divide; plants divided in spring may not become established before the arrival of the heat. A few plants insist on their own timetable.

Definitely wait at least three years and then do not dig or divide until after September 1st. Cut the root mass in half or quarters, retaining at least 3 to 5 eyes per section and trim the bottom roots until they are about 8 to 10 inches long. Wash off roots; dip in 1 ounce bleach to 10 gallons water, rinse, and then plant immediately.

The 'dry' season from April to October seems to be generally considered preferable, at least as far as weather is concerned.

Although you can get a tattoo any time of the year, your skin gets a lot more abuse during the summer with swimming, tanning and just being exposed to the elements more. Winter time is really the best season to get a tattoo.

It is known that delay after diagnosis reduces the success rate after transplantation and there is now general agreement that young patients who have matched related donors should be transplanted as soon as possible after diagnosis. However, it is now clear that interferon treatment prolongs the survival of all patients and, in about 20% of patients, makes all signs of the disease disappear as long as the patients continues the treatment.

Plant six weeks before the first hard frost. Here in USDA Zone 4, we suggest early to mid-September. In USDA Zone 7 and coastal 8 we suggest early to mid-November. The six week period allows your bare-root peonies to develop feeder roots for next summer's new growth.

Mulch after the ground has two to four inches of frost. Mulching is required to prevent the roots from heaving in late winter to early spring while the ground is thawing and re-freezing.

I would do it in late spring, so the plant can have a long growing season to establish in the new place.

Hostas do not need regular division to keep them vigorous. Hostas can be left undisturbed indefinitely, but when division is necessary, divide in the spring just as the plant pips are emerging from the ground, so the new foliage is not damaged. If the plants are left undivided, you can enjoy their mature beauty sooner; otherwise, the plant will take longer to become fully mature.

In October or November, however, December and January are not too late to ensure adequate protection against the flu.

Most trees and shrubs do best when transplanted in the spring or fall, however I have found that with proper care you can transplant most pants just about any time. One more note about planting, a plant can be put in the ground any time of year as long as the ground is not frozen. It is the act of cutting the roots of a plant that is can kill it. A plant purchased at the nursury has already been transplanted and can be put in the ground any time as long as it gets watered.

A lot depends on the trip. The following paragraphs and table will give you an idea of what trips are possible, and more importantly enjoyable, at various times of the year. The spring and fall months of March through May and September through November are typically the most pleasant temperature-wise. The spring brings blooming flowers and longer days which are always a treat. The fall sees stable weather and the cottonwood trees speckle the redrock canyons with brilliant yellow leaves.

It really depends on what you want to fish for but if your like most folks its Marlin. A good rule of thumb is the hotter it is the better the fishing will be. Warm water is what they're looking for. Generally speaking no. The problem that arises with a full moon is it sometimes effects the live bait availability. The chuhuilla and caballitos tend to swim a little deeper making them harder to catch. However, a full moon also brings out the Dorado so there is a slight advantage there.

Really anytime of year is good for a hot air balloon flight; it's just that every season has it's own appeal. Summer is fun because everyone seems to be outside and there is more activity around the balloon at launch and landing. Fall has such brilliant colors as the leaves change and sometimes there's a nip in the air saying that winter is coming soon. Winter has crisp and clear skies that make you feel like you can see forever. You can easily see the wildlife through the empty branches.

IMHO, september through november. you're going to miss a ski season pretty much no matter which way you go. having it these months guarantees that you'll be ready for the next season. and since you can do almost anything else after 6 months, you're not going to miss out on fun stuff like hiking and biking during the next summer.

You can order at any time of the year, although ideally you should place your order at the start of the winter season. You will need to plant out at around the same time as you would normally plant tomatoes. For the USA, Canada and Great Britain, we suggest you order between November and February, while Australia and New Zealand we suggest you order between April and September. This will allow two to three months before planting out begins. For other countries seeds can be sown early spring.

The optimum time to install a roof is when the temperatures are above freezing and the wind and rain are at the lowest intensity and frequency. This allows the roofer the best conditions for installation, with the fewest interruptions and lowest risk of leaking. Unless you are very fortunate, sometimes you cannot schedule the roofing work during these periods, and you may need to install the roof in cold temperatures, or in the rainy season.

This is a question for which there is no exact answer. For most visitors, an African safari is a once in a lifetime experience and they want to of course maximize their game viewing experience in the time they have allotted. However, Africa and the African safari areas have their own true seasons and the benefits of travelling during one time of year versus another must be weighed by the individual guest.

During the peak season (summer, see our Moving Tips section for more information), your move will cost more. But, if you have children, they will have finished their school year so moving will be less of a hassle. If you have children, the best time to move is the Peak season. But, if you don’t then you have a choice and can usually move at any time of the year.
