Adult Basic Education (ABE) offers non-credit classes in GED Preparation, and Basic Job Skills both on and off campus. All ABE/GED/ESL courses require permission to register and are continuous enrollment unless otherwise noted. There is a $25 non-refundable tuition per class.

The Broward County School District is a GED testing facility. All requests for verification of GED test scores and official GED transcripts are handled by the Florida Department of Education, GED Testing Office through their Web site (http://www.firn.edu/doe/workforce/ged_dipl.htm) or call them toll free at 877-352-4331.

Must be 16 years of age or older, is not enrolled in high school, has educational needs below the level equivalent of high school completion (ages 16-18 must have a release from their school districts.)

The ABE/GED CASAS (Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System) test assesses student skill level in reading and math. It is used to place students into the appropriate level.

Most classes meet for two and one half hours twice a week for ten weeks per quarter. If necessary, students can continue to take classes for multiple quarters.
