Tulane University scientists and collaborating scientists from other institutions will study a variety of pathogens including bacteria, viruses, and biotoxins. The goal of these studies is to develop drugs, treatments, vaccines and new diagnostic tests to combat these microorganisms and biotoxins so that they no longer pose a threat to public health.

They do find spam and plenty of it. We did notice that for some customers, the function seemed not to work. But a look at their log showed the problem right away. Assuming your DNS is working right, in almost every case, the firewall or proxy was to blame. What happens is that some of these proxies pose as the sending SMTP mail server to XWall or any other SMTP receiver down the line. That means the spam relays check the address of your proxy or SMTP firewall, not the original sender.

Xwall features a WHITE LIST add the senders domain to it and Xwall will indentify the message as good sender even it's on the black list. Add forward request for the person who wants the mail at home too. (jdow@mycompany.com - jdow@aol.com) Make it visible on port 25 only if you really need to and if you do route it over a different IP. The reason for that, there are blacklists. Your IP address will get on there and the subscribers to the list will block your messages in order to curb spam.

RBL (Real Time Blackhole List) is part of the Mail Abuse Prevention System (MAPS) organization, and can be found at http://mail-abuse.org/rbl/. A subscription to RBL can reduce Spam because it verifies the DNS address of a sender. If the DNS address cannot be verified, the e-mail will not be delivered. Often Spammers use forged e-mail addresses from non-existent domains. Warning: Performing DNS checks may result in the rejection of some valid messages.

Research on many infectious diseases requires a very specialized facility. The facility must be built to complex specifications for design, facilities, operations, maintenance, and operating procedures that ensure a high level of containment, or "biocontainment" since researchers are working with biological materials. The Centers for Disease Control and the National Institutes of Health provide containment guidelines, depending upon the types of biological materials under study.

The anthrax scare in the fall of 2001 made it clear that the United States was not appropriately prepared to deal with the potential misuse of biological agents by terrorists or with newly emerging infectious diseases such as SARS or avian influenza.

Many factors influence the starting and final completion dates. However, construction will be completed approximately two years after ground breaking which is scheduled for the Winter of 2006. Rodents and nonhuman primates will be used in the research and are obtained from vendors that are incensed and inspected by federal government agencies.

The shipment of biological agents is governed by national and international regulations as well as those of the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Infectious agents are shipped in sealed capsules that are packed in highly durable, watertight containers. These containers are then packed in dry ice inside STYROFOAM boxes that fit into larger shipping boxes.

The RBL will be owned and operated by Tulane University. Only personnel trained in biocontainment procedures and authorized for work with these agents will be allowed into the RBL. Agencies involved in regulatory oversight for the RBL include the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, United States Department of Agriculture and the National Institutes of Health.

The RBL will be located on the grounds of the Tulane National Primate Research Center which is located in Covington, Louisiana.

The Tulane National Primate Research Center has a complete Master Plan that includes the new RBL and a variety of other buildings in the same area. At present, the TNPRC has funded construction and renovation projects involving three other buildings in the same area.

Once the RBL is operational, access is restricted to those specifically trained and authorized to enter the facility.

The Realtime Blackhole List (RBL) is a blacklist on the Internet, made available under the umbrella of the Mail Abuse Prevention Systems (MAPS). It lists unprotected mail servers that are used by spammers for sending unsolicited mail. Mail servers using the RBL can deny communications with the listed systems. Because spammers are making increasing use of open client systems with changing IP addresses, the effectiveness of RBL has seen a sharp decline recently.

High - This is the most aggressive setting. Minimal spam will get through, but you may also block legitimate messages.

The DNSBL (DNS BLacklist) databases collect IP addresses of spammer servers, open relay mail servers, open proxies, spam-supporting ISPs, dial-up lines, etc. that are known or possible spam sources. As their name implies, DNS blacklist databases can be queried using DNS lookups. Often they are also referred as RBL's (Realtime BLackhole) or ip4r databases.
