Find a Club which is registered with one of the National Associations. This is not an absolute guarantee of good standards, but most reputable clubs are members and their instructors have to demonstrate their ability in order to register. Ask to be allowed to watch a training session (most instructors welcome this). Be suspicious of instructors who use excessive force on lower grades or who don't follow up on group demonstrations with individual instruction.

Generally the families live within 15 minutes by bus from the school. Taxis are very inexpensive and also a convenient way to get to school. A lot of families live within walking distance, depending upon the country. Most of the schools are located only a short distance from the downtown area.

The Richmond Hill campus, where freshmen and sophomores live and study, is about 7 miles or 35 minutes by Tube. The Kensington campus, where juniors and seniors live and study, is right in the heart of central London.

Guests, we are conveniently located on Capital Hill, Seattle's most exciting neighborhood that also happens to be closest to the center of the city - Westlake Center (15 blocks). Seattle is 20 minutes North from the airport. You can walk downtown or take the #10 Metro bus.

Approximate distances to water sources are as follows. These distances are to the sources nearest to the huts that typically are available throughout the summer. In cases of severe drought, sources could be unavailable. Similarly, in very wet years or early in the summer, additional water sources may be available. Please see the individual hut descriptions in the Huts & Routes section (see main menu above) of this site for more specific information.

From the highest public level of the tower, at 273 metres, you can theoretically see for a distance of just over 59 km (a little under 37 miles). However, because the region surrounding the tower includes a lot of rolling hills, some points even further away are visible, whereas other points at near distances are not visible (because they are hidden by other hills). In reality, it's rare to see that far from the tower, anyway, because the air usually isn't clear enough to permit it.

I am based in Toronto, although I spend a lot of time in my hometown of Pittsburgh. Some people seem to think that Canada is a far away country, just next to the North Pole. In fact, Toronto is only a few miles across the lake from Buffalo, New York. Because the Toronto Pearson airport serves a metro area of 5 million people, it has excellent air connections to just about anywhere in North America.

The Piedmont Triad International Airport is 20 miles from downtown Winston-Salem and is easily accessible off Interstate 40. Smith Reynolds is located 10 minutes north of downtown.

It will take you several minutes to wind down Pinnacle Vista to get to Highway 321. From there, it is about 8 minutes to shopping, dining & all of Downtown Gatlinburg's attractions. During peak seasons and weekends - Gatlinburg is busy and it may take longer to arrive at your destination.

We are about three miles from essential areas of Sonora, and two-way public transportation is available.

Take the Kennedy (90) West to the Irving Park Road exit. Take the exit ramp all the way to Irving (crossing over Pulaski) and turn left. Head west on Irving 7 blocks to Cicero. Turn right on Cicero and park. City Newsstand is on the other side of the street, across from Sears.

The reason why doorknobs are located as far away from the hinges is possible is so that a person does not have to apply as much force to open the door. For example, suppose it takes 50 newtons to open a door that is one meter wide. If the doorknob were in the middle of the door (0.5 meters away from the hinges) then the person would need to apply 100 newtons of force on the doorknob to open the door.

You would be safe to travel home, even if you live far away, after discharge from the hospital. It is important to stand up and walk around every hour or so if travel requires sitting for long periods of time.
