The office of the Deputy Commissioner Community Affairs develops and oversees programs that involve the community. These include civilian patrols, crime prevention programs, youth programs and liaisons to the various ethnic and cultural communities within New York City. DCCA also oversees special events such as National Night Out, Precinct cleanups and Harmony picnics.

Yes, there are a number of federally funded research and personnel preparation grants underway. These grants have been developed and submitted by individual faculty within the Department (7 of the current 10 faculty were involved in writing these grants), and total nearly $1.9 million annually. The prairie's short growing season offers many challenges for the turfgrass manager. PTRC conducts research that focuses on maintaining turfgrass in a cold and dry climate. PBCC offers two A.S. degree programs.
