From the highest public level of the tower, at 273 metres, you can theoretically see for a distance of just over 59 km (a little under 37 miles). However, because the region surrounding the tower includes a lot of rolling hills, some points even further away are visible, whereas other points at near distances are not visible (because they are hidden by other hills). The reason why doorknobs are located as far away from the hinges is possible is so that a person does not have to apply as much force to open the door. Pole Position Campground is between a half and a full mile walking distance from the track depending on where you are in the campground. However, there is a tram stop very close by that will take you right up to the track.

It takes five seconds for sound to travel one mile. When you see a flash, count the number of seconds between until you hear the thunder and then divide by five to get the number of miles between the lightning and you. National lightning safety experts agree a good rule of thumb is if you count 30 seconds or less between the flash and thunder, you are in immediate danger and should seek safety.

Pixel distortion or motion artifacts can occur on early generation plasma monitors when displaying an incoming signal with poor resolution (some cable channels - a signal of around 250 interlaced is generally poor). However, this "pixelating" effect is lessened by increasing viewing distance from the plasma display. With early generation models I generally viewed the proper distances as 8 to 12ft. on a 42" plasma tv and 12 to 16ft. or more on a 50" plasma.
