Why carbon fiber?

Burnwater - FAQ
The first and most evident advantage is its' strength to weight ratio. What this means is that you are able to build a super light weight item without sacrificing strength/flex. If you were to build a same weight paddle in wood you would have to shave off so much material that the resulting flex/strength would be unacceptable. The second reason carbon is so nice to use is its' material consistency. It gives us performance characteristics that are nearly impossible with wood. See similar questions...

Why does your carbon fiber pattern look better than the other ones I have seen?

Hardline Products - Frequently Asked Questions
Our pattern was designed exclusively by our in-house artist. It took months of testing to come up with a carbon fiber pattern that looked great and matched industrial carbon fiber but worked in every color combination. We are the original producers of the "Factory Matched Carbon Fiber Number Kit" and it shows when you see the product. See similar questions...

What is so great about carbon fiber tubing?

CARBON FIBER TUBES
The main benefits of carbon fiber over typically used metal tubing are its low density (weight) and high stiffness. These are great reasons to utilize carbon fiber tubing but there are some benefits as well. Carbon fiber tubing has a very low CTE (coefficient of thermal expansion) which means when heated or cooled the material does not grow or shrink much at all. The CTE of carbon fiber is very near zero. This is great for optical or precision movement applications. See similar questions...

What precautions should I take when cutting carbon fiber myself?

CARBON FIBER TUBES
Cutting carbon fiber safely requires the same protection you would expect to use when cutting anything fibrous. First of all you need to protect your lungs from the tiny fibers that may be disbursed into the air you must wear a painters dust mask over your nose and mouth. If you are doing a lot of cutting all masks should be stored somewhere other than the cutting area when not in use. This ensures that the inside of the mask is kept free of falling particles. Will carbon fiber be too stiff?

Burnwater - FAQ
Yes and no. The common misconception is that carbon fiber paddles are always super stiff and very hard on the joints. What people do not realize is we can control the amount of stiffness in a paddle. We can build things that will not bend if you stood on it to something as flexible as a fishing pole or golf shaft. What we have done is incorporated feedback from the top racing teams to figure out where the sweet spot is. See similar questions...

What's the difference between Fiberglass and Carbon Fiber?

Frequently Asked Questions
Physically C/F shells are thinner than F/G shells, by about 25-30%. Sonically, I'm told by those who own both that the C/F shells actually produce a warmer sound than the F/G variety. My ears tell me the same thing but it's difficult, if not impossible, for me to be objective. See similar questions...

Q35: What is carbon fiber and the benefits?

Seat Heaters for Cars and Trucks from HeatedSeatKits.com
Carbon Fiber is the latest standard of choice for OEM Seat Heaters used by many new car manufacturers. The benefit of carbon fiber that it is thread like and requires very little voltage to produce a lot of heat. No one uses copper based elements anymore (used ten years ago), they are outdated and have high chance of breaking down, burn your seat covers, and catch on fire. Our carbon fiber elements can be cut and holes can be made in the middle to allow you to keep the shape of your channels. See similar questions...

What are carbon fiber hoods for?

w w w . v a n c o u v e r c i v i c s . c o m
Carbon fiber hoods are much lighter than OEM (original equipment manufacturer) hoods. Most often, good quality CD hoods can be half the weight or less! Any weight savings on a car is great, but since the hood is in the front of the car where a heavy engine already is, it will usually improve the cars weight distribution, and help lower the car's top heavy center of gravity. Do you sell silver-impregnated carbon filters?

Water Filters, Purifiers, and Purification FAQ
No. Most research suggests that silver impregnated carbon filters have a very short-lived effectiveness in preventing bacteria growth in a water filter system. There is greater risk that unhealthy levels of silver ions will be passed into your drinking water than from potential bacteria build-up in your carbon filter if proper maintenance of your system is followed. What is "Carbon Fiber" Leather? Is it Carbon Fiber? Is it leather?

Corbin Motorcycle Seats & Accessories | Frequently Asked Que...
First off, YES it is leather. What our manufacturer has done is taken a nice supple hide and laminated a black nylon weave to the top that has a herringbone pattern that matches true carbon fiber. Why didn't they use real carbon? Simple, when real carbon fiber was tried as a laminate, it had a tendency to fray and scuff. This eventually left it looking like an old sweater with those funky little fuzzy things all over it. See similar questions...

Who do you sell the fiber to?

Alpaca Information and FAQ
There are 2 main outlets to market your fiber. Weavers and hand spinners love to work with alpaca fiber. The price is influenced by the color and the quality of the fleece with the average price being $3 to $5 per ounce. The second outlet is the commercial market. The Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association is working with The Alpaca Fiber Cooperative of North America to further develop the commercial market. See similar questions...

Do I grease my carbon fiber seatpost?

Frequently Asked Questions - Competitive Cyclist
No! You'll note that most every carbon post out there has a slick, clear-coated finish to it. If you grease the post, it makes this already-slick surface even slicker, meaning your post will slip in the frame, which means you'll overtighten it, which means you'll exceed its torque setting, which means it might very well crack. How is StablWall different than other carbon fiber products?

Frequently Asked Questions - Home foundation repair - StablW...
It is flexible and able to be conformed to different surfaces. Other products are stiff, like steel plates that are attached to the wall. It is impregnated on the wall, maximizing its’strength. Pre-cured straps create weaker bonds. Competitors claim that on-site mixing is messy, which is not true. See similar questions...

Do you offer carbon fiber poles?

Tarptent Ultralight Shelters Frequently Asked Questions
No, with the exception of carbon fiber struts for low off-axis stress. Carbon fiber replacement poles are available from third-party manufacturers such as Fibraplex but the weight savings over our standard aluminum pole is small--the aircraft grade Easton aluminum 12-foot Rainbow arch pole is 6 1/4 ounces, a Fibraplex carbon fiber replacement pole is 4 ounces--and both the cost and risk of breakage with carbon fiber is dramatically higher.
