How did dolphins evolve?

FAQ's
The earliest recognisable cetaceans lived about 50 million years ago. These evolved from the Mesonychids: large land mammals, some of which were carnivorous, some herbivorous. The earliest cetaceans were members of the now extinct family Archaeoceti (the best known of which are Zeuglodon and Basilosaurus). 38-25 million years ago the Archaeoceti disappeared and were replaced by the early Odontocetes (toothed whales) and Mysticetes (baleen whales).

What is the History of Paradise Park and how did it evolve?

How did the spirit bears evolve?

Valhalla Wilderness Society - Spirit Bear
Genetic studies show that the coastal black bears of British Columbia have been isolated from the rest of the black bears in North America for over 350,000 years. Some scientists speculate that spirit bears evolved on the rainforest islands of the Pacific coast of British Columbia in more recent times, i.e. since the glaciers from the last Ice Age melted about 10,000 years ago. How did proteins ever first evolve?

Ted Holden's frequent questions answered
You have to figure proteins would be destroyed faster than they could be created by any natural, undirected process, and that that the ratio between these rates is again some sort of astronomical number. Abiogeneticists don't propose proteins were created by undirected processes, but arose from earlier, simpler, self-replicants. There are FAQs on abiogenesis. See similar questions...

How did the first one-celled animals ever evolve?

Ted Holden's frequent questions answered
Ted quotes Bill Anderson calculating odds against 1-celled life. As before, the odds calculations are invalid, in that they assume independence, and the need for a specific outcome instead of only a viable one. See similar questions...

How did frogs evolve?

Frogs Australia Network - Frequently Asked Questions
Frogs evolved from ancestors that looked like living salamanders which themselves look like lizards with smooth moist skins instead of dry scaly skins. Frogs probably evolved in the Triassic period, more than 200 million years ago. The first fossil that everyone agrees is almost certainly a frog is Triadobatrachus from the Lower Triassic in Madagascar. The Lower Triassic was approximately 240 to 245 million years ago. How Did the Wider "Clan" Evolve?

Scottish Clans and Tartans FAQ
Within the Scottish Highlands, in the 12th and 13th centuries the concept of "clan" grew beyond immediate family to cover an extended network of people who felt that they had loyalties to a particular clan chief. Sometimes the extension of the clan territory, and therefore the clan members, was achieved by conquest or by alliances or marriage. See similar questions...

How did your books evolve?

Untitled Document
A work of fiction is not a biography. When I first started marketing to agents, my book The House of the Dragon was largely telling and not showing. An agent asked me, "Why would I read your book if I can just pick up a history text and find out the same things?" Well, at the time I thought she was crazy. I had characters, after all, not just "this happened and then in the year 14XX that happened." My characters were going through the plot. See similar questions...

How did ERP evolve?

Welcome To Ascomp Technologies
Automation was used for accounting to keep track of financial resources. Soon, organisations realised that the key to manufacturing efficiency was the management of inventory, and computers could be of enormous help in that area. This was followed by a more complete Material Requirement Planning Sysem (MRP1), but then came the need for integrating the manufacturing process itself with MRP - thus was born Manufacturing Resources Planning, or MRPII. How did the EQUImeasure Kit evolve?

EQUImeasure Kit for saddle fit: FAQs
The owners of EQUImeasure Incorporated struggled to find saddles that properly fit their three very different horses. Their remote location prohibited easy trailering to a saddle fitter or saddler and the cost to insure and ship "demonstration" saddles was terribly expensive. Tape measures, flexible rulers, fabric tracings, books, and videos did not provide measurements accurate enough to confidently order saddles via telephone or Internet. See similar questions...

Did we evolve from monkeys?

Evolution: Frequently Asked Questions
Humans did not evolve from monkeys. Humans are more closely related to modern apes than to monkeys, but we didn't evolve from apes, either. Humans share a common ancestor with modern African apes, like gorillas and chimpanzees. Scientists believe this common ancestor existed to 8 million years ago. Shortly thereafter, the species diverged into two separate lineages. See similar questions...

How did humans evolve?

Evolution: Frequently Asked Questions
Since the earliest hominid species diverged from the ancestor we share with modern African apes, 5 to 8 million years ago, there have been at least a dozen different species of these humanlike creatures. Many of these hominid species are close relatives, but not human ancestors. Most went extinct without giving rise to other species. Some of the extinct hominids known today, however, are almost certainly direct ancestors of Homo sapiens. See similar questions...

Department of Energy - FAQ
When the electric system began over 120 years ago (starting with Pearl Street Station in NYC in 1885), generating plants were isolated and served dedicated customers.
