Your ship accepts credit cards, cash and travelers checks for additional expenses such as alcohol, shore excursions, gift shop purchases and spa services. The ship is "cashless". An imprint of your credit card (or a cash deposit) is taken at the beginning of your cruise. The last night of your cruise, you will receive a bill detailing any incremental charges. If you are using a credit card your charges will be automatically billed to your card.

We strongly recommend that you carry travelers cheques in US, Canadian or Euro funds. You need to exchange these funds at an official bank in Egypt , and there are many that have branches in your hotels. You will need to keep the receipt in order to exchange back any of the remaining Egyptian currency to the currency of your choice.

When you travel and study in another country you need to allow some living expenses in addition to your course fees. The cost of living in Queensland is relatively inexpensive compared to other capital cities in the UK and US. Most students need to allow between $800 - $1200 per month depending on lifestyle and accommodation.

Start by contacting the mathematics students' society of your university. They have possibly made arrangements for the students from your university who want to attend. If you are doing summer research, talk to your supervisor. He or she may have grants for travelling, and may help you out; in fact, he or she may want to help you out even without grants. Also try the mathematics department, or any department you are affiliated with.

What about credit cards? Depending where you are in Honduras, you can get away without exchanging money! The official currency of Honduras is the Lempira. If you are going to be spending your time at the main cities (Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula) you may pay with US$ and people will gladly take them, however, if you go to the countryside it is very unlikely people will take dollars. You can exchange money at a currency exchange house, usually located near the airports or at big cities.

Forget about carrying cash; this is a "cashless society." At the beginning of your voyage simply provide the purser with your credit card number or other evidence of how you are going to settle your account. Simply sign a receipt for each of your purchases as you go along, then settle your account with one convenient transaction at the end of the cruise -- using American Express, VISA, MasterCard, Discover Card, cash, Traveler's Checque, or personal check.

Virtually every store will accept U.S. dollars, though sometimes they will give you back your change in Israeli shekels. Though U.S. dollars are easy to use, it's often good to have some Israeli shekels for making small purchases since the price in shekels is often rounded up to the next highest dollar.

In addition to your tuition and program expenses, you should make sure you have sufficient cash to support yourself during your study. On average, students in Queensland require A$1,250 per month to live comfortably. This includes homestay fees, personal expenses, transportation costs and lunches from Monday to Friday. Extra allowance should be made for entertainment expenses.

It is suggested that you bring US$100 for transportation, emergencies, and extras upon arrival. Depending on how long you plan to stay, you may need more money for expenses.

Currency is pesos, of course. Check the conversion rate before you leave so you'll have a general idea of what things cost. For a long time the rule of thumb was that one US dollar equaled approximately 10 pesos. As of this writing in October of 2004, a dollar is worth about 11.3 pesos. We estimate that you should budget an extra £12,000 to cover accommodation and living expenses, textbooks, college fees, computers and software whilst you are in Cambridge. A more detailed breakdown can be be found on our Fees and Expenses webpage.

You may choose to wire the portion of your foreign program fee due for each trip before you travel, or you may choose to bring it as cash or traveler's checks. You will also need money (cash or traveler's checks) for your hotels, sightseeing, and shopping. You will need cash for your child's U.S. visa on the second trip as well. Your consultant will be able to assist you in estimating how much money to take with you for each of your trips.

Bringing a little money can never hurt. You may want to tip your servers or bartenders. There will be local artisans with crafts and Hawaiian gifts which you may want to purchase as well. Most luaus also offer photos of you taken as you enter the luau grounds as a keepsake for a small fee.

The only spending money you will need is for the $26 airport departure tax and any souvenirs that you may want to buy. $50-$100 has been more than enough for most past participants on our 8-day adventure. Add to this amount if your stay is longer. You can bring traveler's checks but make sure to have some cash as well. Always bring checks and bills in small denominations (no larger than $20.) These will be easier to exchange.
