Corporations may apply for Certification as a Minority Business Enterprise. This certification enables a Corporation to compete for bids for various contracts under Minority Status. To certify your company as a Minority Business Enterprise and/or as a Minority Subcontractor with the Georgia Department of Administrative Services (DOAS), simply complete the Georgia Department of Transportation's (GDOT) Certification Application, available online by visiting the DOAD State Purchasing, Vendor Relations Office website at www.statepurchasing.doas.georgia.gov. DOAS accepts the GDOT Certification Application which captures the required data for DOAS.

Most colleges do not have official quotas to fill, but most do try to select a freshman class that covers a broad ethnic and cultural spectrum. It is generally a good idea to indicate that you are a member of an ethnic minority as there might be special opportunities available to you, such as a scholarship for people of your ethnicity.

Residency is based upon where you permanently reside. In the example above, you would qualify for in-state, but not in-district tuition.
