No notation will be made on your transcript if you drop courses or withdraw from Summer Sessions prior to the last day of the session. But be sure to verify your Summer Sessions enrollment status. Do not anticipate that the University will automatically drop you from a class due to nonpayment or non-attendance. You may drop a course anytime from the day you register in it until the last day to add or drop courses for that semester and the course will not appear on your transcript. If you withdraw from a course after the last day to add or drop courses but before the last day to withdraw from courses for that semester, the course appears on your transcript with the notation "W" (withdrew with permission). A "W" does not count toward your Grade Point Average.

Beginning with the fall of 2006, students who drop individual classes after the allowable maximum number is reached will be charged a $50.00 fee for each course dropped. Community College students may drop a total of 4 courses before a fee is charged. University students may drop a total of 8 courses before a fee is charged. Any courses dropped before the fall of 2006 will NOT be counted in the total. The count begins with the fall of 2006 term.

If a class is dropped after the first week of the scheduled class (Fall or Spring semester) a "W" will be posted automatically on the transcript, reflecting a course withdrawal. There is no impact on the grade point average for any courses with a "W".

Any student may drop or add a course online using his or her WebID provided this is done before the drop/add deadlines. These deadlines are very important to keep in mind. They may be found on the Office of the Registrar's home page under the heading Academic Calendars. After the final day for course withdrawals, as posted by the Office of the Registrar, the decision to allow a student to drop a course rests with his or her academic dean.

The computer system will not automatically pick up a repeated course. When the repeated class has been graded, submit a completed Repeat Form to Enrollment Services. The original grade remains on the record and the lower graded course is marked as a repeated course. The highest grade received will be used to calculate the cumulative grade point average. A course taken or repeated at another institution must be transferred to SLCC before a repeat can be processed.

If you drop a class prior to the census date/twelfth class day, you may be responsible for repayment of the difference between the amount of money you received and the amount specified for the new enrollment status. Yes, however, there will be no refund of any monies paid. Be aware that if you took out loans, you may have to repay monies back to your lender. Contact the Financial Aid Office at your home school for further information. Thomas Cooley and Indiana Univ-Bloomington students must obtain permission to drop classes from either Prof Bill Weiner-Thomas Cooley or Dean Len Fromm-Indiana. Then Prof Weiner or Dean Fromm will alert USD-San Diego to the approved change.
