There are no zoning codes that restrict Natural Spaces domes, and our domes exceed all energy codes. You may be restricted on height as some codes have a maximum height of 30' to 35'. Most of our domes are less than 30' high but the code height is measured from the average grade line. It's only when you have a developer who is a builder, and they want you to build their house, they then put restrictions on their lots - "no log homes, no earth homes, no domes, no imagination".

The nature of the spherical design provides strength because all the points of the structure share the stress evenly. The dome shape allows environmental stresses such as movement from an earthquake or wind or stress from snow loading to be evenly distributed throughout the structure. The geometry of the triangle offers additional strength to the dome shape.. Geodesic domes have been used successfully for Antarctica radar towers with up to 200mph winds for over 25 years.

Force Domes are really spheres of magical energy, with the top hemisphere showing and the bottom hemisphere engulfing mass as a magical (not physical) "anchor". E.g., a 3-hex Force Dome radiates 2 hexes out from the center hex, and is 5 yards (15') in diameter. It must be cast on a patch of ground at least 15' across, and appears to be a "dome" 7.5' high in its center. The other hemisphere is under the ground, full of dirt, stone, or other solid junk.

Force Dome is intended to be a defense for the caster and his companions, not a prison for the caster's enemies. The spell cannot be evaded or resisted; therefore, allowing mages to trap people in Force Domes to incinerate them, depressurize them, etc. would be abusive, and not in the spirit of the spell. Still, they can pretty useful for capturing people, especially if you use them for traps in combination with spells not based on physical effects, like Sleep, Flesh to Stone, etc.

The majority of our customers purchase their domes to live in. The different cover materials we offer allow for use in any climate. We have insulation packages available that, in conjunction with a wood stove or other heating system, make the dome a comfortable space in cold weather. It is possible to spray your dome with foam and concrete. We recommend reinforcing the spaces in between the struts before spraying the frame. We will need information on the frequency and exact size of struts to see if our dome covers will fit.

Yes although our Instruction DVD and Video have enabled our customers to set their own domes up with ease. We do recommend hiring one of our staff members for 44’ diameter and larger domes, although we have had customers accomplish the setups on their own. Please contact us and we will have one of our Dome Works crew give you a quote if you require assistance. We can also train you to construct your own dome.

The concept of a FRF was first proposed in 1963 by Rudolph Savage, Chief of Research Division of the Coastal Engineering Research Center (CERC). The FRF was to have 4 goals.
