Videos that are streamed digitally can be viewed online. Please visit the Webcast menu page to watch events, teleconferences, seminars, and lectures in this area. The file plays as it downloads to make wait time minimal.

You need a computer (at least a 486 with 32 megs of ram running Windows 95), an Internet connection (dial-up with modem, DSL, cable modem or LAN) and a "player" application (Windows Media Player).

A If you don't already have the QuickTime plug-in (a "plug-in" is a piece of software), you can download it, free of charge, from Apple Computer. It takes just a few minutes to download it onto your hard disk and install it. From then on, it will open automatically whenever you access QuickTime movies wherever you are on the Web. QuickTime software is available for Windows OS and for Macintosh OS. Click the "Get Quicktime" buttom above.

Your Online Statement will be presented to you electronically in Portable Document Format (PDF). To view, print or save the PDF, you will need to download a FREE copy of Adobe® Acrobat Reader.

You can use the online catalog to find textual descriptions of films that are not yet digitized. Make a note of the film numbers, beginning with RG-60. Contact staff at 202.488.6104 or filmvideo@ushmm.org to schedule an appointment to visit the USHMM to view the footage in VHS format. If you do not find what you are looking for online, please ask.

The videos on the website are made with Windows Media Player and you may have an older computer that may need and update, you may not have Windows operating system or Explorer as your browser. Not all videos are compatible with all computer systems.

Aside from Internet access, you will no longer need any special software. However, we recommend that you update your browser (Internet Explore Version 6, Netscape 8 etc.) so that the eBPS will be displayed properly.

You will need Netscape Navigator 4.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 (or later versions of each). Remember that the website is graphic intensive and may take considerable time to load depending on your Internet connection speed.

Our wedding webcasts are streamed in Windows Media format. Nearly 95% of computers already have Windows Media Player installed, which means virtually all of your online guests will be able to view the webcast without installing any software. Just in case, we provide links to the free installation and upgrades for Windows Media Player, available from Microsoft.
