A standby describes the circumstance of a team of cryonics-emergency support people standing by the bedside of a patient waiting for the heart to stop − and for legal pronouncement of death. Once a qualified medical professional has pronounced death the standby team can begin cardiopulmonary support (heart compression and ventilation) and cooldown to preserve the living tissues and organs of the cryonics patient.

Well, for a few reasons. First, it gives me an incentive to continually improve the product. I know I need to keep up or sales will drop. Second, it provides me with the means to give you prompt, excellent support. Unsatisfied customers are not acceptable! And finally, I believe that people who pay a little for their software are more likely to use it and take pride in it. Patients are encouraged to schedule in advance, allowing them to choose their doctor and the date of their procedure, but if you have a flexible schedule and can react quickly, you can save even more money by choosing our Standby Program. Your name is placed on a waiting list, and when your name reaches the top of the list, we schedule you with the first available physician and date.

When your name reaches the top of the list, we schedule your procedure in the first available opening. If you cannot fill that opening, your name is moved to the bottom of the list, unless we have given you less than seven days notice. The "Standby" button shuts down the front panel LEDs and disconnects communication between the cable modem and the computer(s) connected through the cable modem, while remaining active on the cable operator's RF network. If the call load is high, the crew on the event standby may be called away to respond to calls if all other units are already busy.
