This is also called a Prayer for Judgement or Deferment in some jurisdictions. This is a procedure where you pay the fine but the speeding ticket is masked and does not show on your record. The clerk of court can tell you if this is available in your state and the restrictions. Texas, Maryland, and North Carolina offer this option but usually only to drivers from their state.

Probation is a sentencing provision available to all courts which has strict regulations and accountability requirements. Probationers must obey the law and be employed or enrolled in school. Most are required to pay restitution, court costs, fine and fees, as well as work a number of hours doing unpaid community service. They may not change jobs or move without the probation officer's permission. Urinalysis is often required to document they are not abusing alcohol or drugs.

Whenever a technologist fails to report the required number of continuing education credits required to maintain their registry status the ARRT may place that individual on CE probation. This is a category that allows the radiographer to remain registered, but documents their need to comply with the education requirement. If you are currently on CE probation you should prepare for the NEW requirement that went into effect January 1, 2008.

An "intake" Juvenile Probation Officer is assigned to all youth referred to the Department. This does not mean the child is or will be on Probation. The purpose for assigning the youth a Juvenile Probation Officer is to gather information by assessing the nature of the offense, the risk the youth presents to the community, damages incurred to the victim by youth's actions, and the needs of the youth and family.

You will be required to report, in person, to the probation department on a regular basis, generally at least once a month.

Only the court can terminate a youth's Probation supervision. The Juvenile Probation Officer is responsible for recommending termination to the court upon the youth's completion or substantial completion of all court ordered sanctions and treatment goals. The Department must close the youth's case when it loses jurisdiction to supervise the case because the youth reaches age 19 (21 or 22 in some cases); or the Department loses jurisdiction of a case based on the charge.

GEST academic policy states that students on probation may not attend summer school. If there are compelling reasons for you to attend TAMU rather than a community college or other institution, see your academic advisor.

Probation is a criminal sentence; parole is one way of completing a criminal sentence of incarceration. In most jurisdictions, first-time offenders are considered for probation, particularly if their offense was nonviolent. A person placed on probation is typically given a jail or prison sentence that is suspended as long as the person abides by the terms and conditions of probation.
