Newer version of the DesktopBSD Package Manager support portsnap, which reduces update times and bandwidth usage to a minimum. If you want to keep using cvsup, it also includes a tool that finds the fastest cvsup repository to download from using ping speed tests from your modem/router. If you know of a faster one, you can manually input the address into the Package Manager.

Most of the time when that occurs, we have no control over it since most of the files that you are downloading are links to other sites, so, feel free to complain to their webmaster.

Your Internet connection speed will affect the speed of downloading our movie files. You may want to consider upgrading your Internet service to broadband or DSL. There is also the possibility that the networks to our server may become congested due to internet traffic during peak hours. As such, try avoiding using the service on peak times such as, from 10:00 pm to 2:00 am.

Our network-connections are far from being full. We always buy more bandwidth than we really need in order to avoid bottle-necks. Neither uploading nor downloading is limited! If you still have a slow upload-speed, try choosing a different network-path for uploading your files.

The download speed mostly depends on the seeder-to-leecher ratio (SLR). Poor download speed is mainly a problem with new and very popular torrents where the SLR is low. A sidenote: make sure you remember that you did not enjoy the low speed. Seed so that others will not endure the same. In particular, do not do it if you have a slow connection. The best speeds will be found around the half-life of a torrent, when the SLR will be at its highest.

If you are frustrated by the slow speed of your computer, you may want to consider updating your browser (your browser is what allows you to access the Internet). Using the most up-to-date browser will provide the best experience on our site as well as the majority of sites on the Internet. The most commonly used browser is Internet Explorer, followed by Netscape.

First thing to check is your upload limit setting: if you use all your upload bandwidth, your download performance will be greatly impaired. Are you behind a router? Enable port forwarding to your computer on port 6881 (or whatever you specified in the configuration). Concerning Azureus: how many peers are you connected to? Set "number of max connections per torrent" sufficiently high (to 100 for instance) in "configuration" menu > transfer, unless you have some disconnection issues.

Give it time! Be patient! This is the most important suggestion for most speed-related problems. Sometimes it can take a while to contact a slow tracker. The beginning of a download will be especially slow since you don't have any pieces of the file to share with others. Recently, trackers have been quite overloaded and it's common to get timeout-related errors. Leave the client open and eventually it will connect.

Downloading emails can be slow if you have low speed Internet connectivity compared to the size of messages you are trying to download. If you feel that you have good enough connectivity and still the email download is slow, check the connection speed between your computer and the mail server. For doing this, you need to go to MS-DOS prompt on your PC and type ping pop.yourdomainname.com. Find out the time it takes to ping the mail server.

It might be a problem with individual site. If it happens to all websites, please close all applications and your browser, then reset the Modem and restart the computer. Please choose "Internet Option" under your IE's pull down menu then click "Connections", then "LAN Setting". Unmark "Proxy Server" and click "OK" then restart your browser to reflect changes.

The only way we can guarantee blazing fast speeds is when you upgrade to a Premium Membership. We have a special server farm dedicated to Premium users are currently running at less that 10% capacity.

There is a problem (which we are working to fix) that results in a crash at the end of a render when the 'Artmatic Sound' option is active when rendering. You can work around this problem by turning the option off. You can then render the sound separately on the sound page and combine them with QuickTime Player.

Normally when you double-click on a file in the right-hand list, it is displayed in a separate browser window. However, if you hold down shift while double-clicking, your browser should prompt you to save the file instead. In Webmin versions 0.966 and above, you can also download by selecting the file and clicking on the Save button in the top-left corner of the file manager.

The speed to download the file may decrease remarkably when virus scanning software or personal firewall software is running. Turn it off. Videos may also play poorly if your computer is trying to do multiple tasks at one time (virus scans, instant messengers, etc.) Large video files may require your computer's full resources in order to play properly. Our videos play at a very high data rate and are very CPU intensive. They may not play smoothly on slower computers.

Your download speed is dependant on the speed of your internet connection. If you are unsure of what your connection speed is, you can test it here: Speedometer If you have peer-to-peer file sharing programs running in the background (e.g. BitTorrent, Gnutella, eDonkey, Kazaa, iMesh, Limewire, Bearshare etc.).

First, you must understand the difference in ways of showing speed. Big B vs. little b; Big K vs. little k: Our basic plan speed is 384/512Kbps. This is the same as downloading at 64 KBps (8 x 64KBps = 512 Kbps). If you begin to download a file, it will initially download up to the 14 Mbps burst speed. After about 5 MB of downloading, you download speed will be shifted down for the speed which you pay for.
