The proxy itself uses a combination of TCP and UDP. TCP is used server->proxy, and UDP is used proxy->client. The data sent via UDP is standard quakeworld client protocols, and in it's basic form is compatable with any quakeworld client available. The TCP server->proxy stream carrays an MVD stream. This is the same format of stream that is stored in the MVD (multi-view demo) created by certain quakeworld servers such as MVDSV and FTE. The proxy itself uses a combination of TCP and UDP.

Chord communicates with peers using standard RPCs. The specific protocols are defined using XDR and can be viewed via our WebCVS interface at http://cvs.pdos.lcs.mit.edu/cvs/sfsnet/svc/. However, these definitions do not specify the semantics in detail --- if you want to implement Chord, you may be better off doing it without seeking compatibility with our implementation.

The applicant should select protocols to reflect what they consider important .and that take advantage of the proposed infrastructure of the network. SNMP uses 161/udp for general purpose (request/response) communications, and 162/udp for traps. Additionally, the SNMP multiplexing protocol (smux, defined in RFC1227 http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1227.txt) uses 199/tcp. Another SNMP extension, the AgentX protocol (RFC2741, http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2741.txt) uses 705/tcp.

CombiMatrix tried several alternative protocols, all of them provided insufficient stripping of targets. Even in the cases when no hybridization signal could be observed after stripping, some residual nucleic acid hybrids remained on microarrays and adversely affected the results of subsequent re-hybridizations. Thus, usage of the recommended protocol with the CustomArray™ Stripping Kit is the only means to preserve integrity of CombiMatrix microarrays.

ArcWeb Services are deployed through Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), a set of Internet standards utilizing hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) and Extensible Markup Language (XML). SOAP is used because it can communicate with any application that can connect to the Web and understands XML. ArcWeb Services use SOAP to communicate so they are compatible with many Web service toolkits.

Several years ago Pixtran developed software drivers for most all of the high-speed scanners and named them "ISIS". Inexpensive low volume, low speed scanners connecting to PC's via serial/parallel and now USB ports developed "TWAIN" as drivers for these scanners. There are several versions of TWAIN drivers and they are all different. When an industry standard is available Solomon will offer it as well.

Yes. The MIDP 2.0 specification introduces optional support for socket, server socket, datagram, SSL, and serial (COMM) communication. The WMA specification provides support for SMS, CBS, and MMS messaging. The toolkit's support for JSR 75 and JSR 82 adds file, Bluetooth, and OBEX connections as well.

One of the goals of SOAP Version 1.2 was to develop a clean way to change the underlying transport. Part 2 Adjuncts defines a rather complete mapping to HTTP, but you can define your own mapping to whatever protocol, using the SOAP Protocol Binding Framework defined in Part 1, Section 4.

We have no absolute protocols for immunohistochemistry. Any basic protocol or immunohistochemistry kit is suitable. Functionally, the slides are nearly identical to regular slides. We do recommend increasing deparaffinization, hydration and dehydration times at least 25 percent over the standard protocol time, to 7.5–10 minutes per step, because of an altered interaction of water with the adhesive slides. Automated immunostainers can be used with care.
