Many chemical and nuclear processes are "exothermic," meaning they produce more energy out than is input. For example, when you strike a match, it burns until the fuel is exhausted, producing energy-small energy in (from the striking motion), large energy out. Some LENR devices produce energy the way a burning match does: no energy is input after an initiation trigger, but a steady stream of heat is produced.

Heat stroke is the most serious heat-related illness. It occurs when the body becomes unable to control its temperature: the body’s temperature rises rapidly, the sweating mechanism fails, and the body is unable to cool down. Body temperature may rise to 106°F or higher within 10 to 15 minutes. Heat stroke can cause death or permanent disability if emergency treatment is not provided.

There is an excellent wood stove with a not-so-excellent chimney. The problem was that the chimney had a good sized crack in it, which we repaired with aluminum foil! The wood supply is excellent too—lots of driftwood. Another problem is that a million wasps come out inside the house as soon as you light the stove and warm the house a bit.
