However, you can easily use your a/v receiver to switch between multiple video inputs. Connect the monitor out of your equipement to your grab card and all your video devices to video in connectors. This is related to the hardware you are using. You are probably using an older PCI-equipped Mac (PowerMac 9600 or earlier) with an analog video capture card. On such a configuration, every bit of computing power is required to capture the video stream due to the poor performance of the PCI-controller chips. Videodelic does a lot more than just capture the video stream and this interferes (in some cases) with the captures card's ability to capture a full-sized frame.

It appears that the OS X Classic engine does not allow QuickTime video input in most cases. We have had reports of some users getting this to work but in most cases it appears that the QuickTime FireWire input does not work in Classic. If you have not yet purchased the software, you can use the demo version to determine if video input will work for you.

You can use a direct video input. For example, you can use a webcam connected to a USB port, or a firewire compatible digital camera or webcam connected to a IEEE 1934 port. Probably not. DScaler currently only supports the Brooktree/Conexant chipset (see previous question). Supporting others chipsets, while feasable, means some hard work and some solid knowledge of those chipsets. And unfortunately, no recent vga card with video-in feature includes Brooktree/Conexant chipset. Gx00, Asus Deluxe, ATI All-in-Wonder etc... are thus not supported for video input at the moment.

If you want to record from an S-video input source the selector button on the remote control must be pressed when the unit is powered up. On the lower right corner of the remote control there is a button marked "I/P" this is the button that must be pressed. The default input for video is composite (RCA type connectors) if you don't change the input the S-Video input will roll and the video signal will not pass through. Clipstream™ Live has an archiving feature that will record the video as Clipstream™ Video (.vcs) files for streaming later. If you require higher quality video for DVD or local playback you will need to record to tape.
