In the US, the Bach Remedies are sold in most health food stores, and a few other companies' offerings might be there as well. Most others do business by mail order. This site contains listings of some of the newer essence companies.

The original essences, which were mostly made from flowers, were developed by Dr. Edward Bach (1886-1936), an English physician who gave up his busy practice to study and prepare the 38 flower essences (plus the 5-flower combination, Rescue Remedy) now known as Bach Flower Remedies or English Flower Essences. Dr. Bach was a physician and homeopath before discovering the energetic basis of illness and distress. He dedicated his life to creating this simple, effective, safe system of healing.

This is perhaps one of the questions we are asked most often and the answer depends on which of our essences groups you are wishing to work with. Bach Flower Remedies ? We recommend that you use these remedies made up into combinations of 7 or 8 individual remedies. It is better not to include essences from other groups in these combinations.

The bottle should be wrapped in a paper bag by the user. Do not refrigerate it or store it near electrical appliances or in the sun.

We draw a distinction between an essence taken for a particular, temporary situation or condition (for example, situation-specific stress such as an upcoming exam) and one taken for a fundamental, "chronic" problem. The other two times can be at the patient's convenience, sometime in the morning and in the afternoon. During the first few days of treatment, taking the drops six times a day (four drops each time) is recommended.
