What is the primary difference between the OEM BMW wheels and the replicas?

Pelican Parts Wheel FAQ
The replica wheels are near-exact copies of the same OEM BMW wheels that are sold at your local BMW dealer (also available on this website). The primary difference is price, as the replica wheels are not sold with the BMW label on them. The factory can charge a premium for their wheels because they carry that BMW label.

Is there a quality difference between the OEM wheels and the replicas?

Pelican Parts Wheel FAQ
There are no discernable differences in the quality of our replica wheels when compared to the originals. We were skeptics at first, but upon inspection of the wheels, we have determined that they are very high quality, and are virtually indistinguishable from the factory originals. They are as durable as the originals, and will not bend, dent, or deform any differently than the original style wheels.

Are these wheels made from the same molds as the factory OEM wheels?

Pelican Parts Wheel FAQ
In some cases, the replica wheels may be manufactured from the original molds. More than likely, however, they are manufactured from an alternate mold that does not cast the BMW part number or emblem into the back face of the wheel. The wheels are manufactured using the same pressure-cast methods that are used to create the original wheels.

DCP: Frequently Asked Questions
A primary confluence is one that meets the primary goals of the project, that is, it is on (or close to) land, and not ruled out by the "Poles Problem" restrictions. Check out "What is a primary confluence" above for more details on this. A confluence that is on (or close to) land, but ruled out by the Poles rule is called secondary. Confluence points of this type will be accepted if visited but are not part of the primary goals of the project.

Are these the authentic "///M-Parallel" wheels or replicas? What size are the wheels and tires?

FOR SALE: 1993 BMW 740iL - Frequently Asked Questions
These are the real deal and not imitation replica wheels. Genuine BMW M-Parallel wheels cost almost $2000, but I chose not to save money by buying replicas because I wanted the forged strength and light weight of the factory M-Parallel wheels. Internet message forums are filled with many horror stories about replica M-Parallel wheels, and they have been appropriately nicknamed "butter wheels" because they are too soft and bend easily.

What is the difference between tubular and clincher wheels? Which should I get?

Endurance World: FAQ
Tubular and clincher are the types of rims that use different kinds of tires / tubes combination. Tubular rims are lighter and require the tire (a sew-up with the tube inside) to be glued to the rim. Clincher rims have a "lip" onto which the tires are attached (no glue required) to the rim. Tubular tires have the tube already inside, while clincher tires use a tube and tire that can be easily separated.

Can I Swap OEM Wheels Between NSX Model Years?

Wheel Tech
The main problem as always is having the wheel clear the brakes. Here is a list of which wheel will swap straight onto which model year NSXs. The 2002 wheel spokes do not flare out enough closer to the center where the 1991 - 1996 caliper sits. If you upgrade a 1991 - 1996 car to have to '97+ front rotors (which moves the caliper further out), you can use 2002 wheels. You could also use a 5mm spacer to push the wheels out enough to clear the caliper.

The only difference between these 2 products is the way that the key number comes. The OEM w/ COA comes with the key number (product key) on an actual Certificate of Authenticity (COA) from Microsoft. The OEM w/ KEY just has the serial number on a label on the back of the cd sleeve. Some people feel more secure getting the product key on a COA while others are willing to save money and just get the key number on a label. Both are fully licensable and able to be registered with Microsoft.
