Frequently Asked Questions Nail Care by Cindy - North Ogden
This is a highly misunderstood subject. Acrylic nails DO NOT cause nail fungi. However, some clients who wear nail enhancements do get a more common disorder commonly known as nail mold. Mold occurs when the nails are not maintained on a regular basis (every 2-3 weeks), or when the artificial nails are applied improperly.

A-1 nails...at your fingertips Nail Salon
Your natural nails will return to normal in two to three months after removal. If they are applied and removed correctly, artificial nails do little damage to your nails. Your own nails will always grow back in the same condition they were in before the artificial nails were applied. Be sure to use a good nail strengthener during the growing-out process and plenty of cuticle oil.

QUESTION: Is wearing artificial nails safe?

Nails Magazine - Resources
ANSWER: In and of themselves and when applied properly, acrylic nails are safe. What contributes to the "danger" to clients is repeated exposure to the chemicals on the skin. Most of the chemicals used to create artificial nails are acrylic-based. Certainly they would be dangerous if ingested, but it is not likely that any significant amount of the products can go through the nails into the bloodstream. The danger is when products are applied improperly.

Q Why do I need artificial reverb?

Reverb
Artificial reverb allows you to add a sense of acoustic space to any audio signal. This can make recording cheaper, more controllable and more creative. It's actually very difficult to obtain quality recordings using only natural reverberation — it requires a great deal of experience, as well as extreme care in selecting and setting up recording environments. This production style is impractical for the majorityof projects, where time or money (or both!) are limited.

Nails. None of the simple treatments has helped my nails. What can I do to improve them?

Psoriasis Help Organisation - Online Forum
The treatment of nails is very difficult. You should keep them short to prevent further damage from catching them, and ask your doctor about having the clippings analysed to make sure you do not have a fungal infection. A fungal infection can be an additional problem in damaged nails but can also mimic the typical changes of psoriasis. Topical vitamin D agents on the affected part can sometimes work if applied and covered with polythene, but this may only be practical at night.
