A headphone amplifier, or headphone amp, is simply a small amplifier specifically designed to drive the miniature audio drivers inside headphones. Because headphones are often used in portable applications, many headphone amps are conveniently battery powered. Headphone amps can also be used in a work station or desktop setting where they sometimes act as a switch between various sound sources or as a pre-amp for powered desktop speakers.

a beginner, you certainly don't need a stadium-sized earth-shaker. To learn, get something relatively small that can handle the low end. Be sure to get a bass amp however; you can seriously damage a guitar amp's speaker by running bass through it, and it won't sound that good anyway. Yes you certainly can. Some users say that the use of a pre-amp increases dynamics - especially transformer coupled designs like our Line-Only Pre-Amplifier. The Genesis sample, consisting of protons, ions and atoms from the Sun, does not pose any risk to the Earth. The National Research Council's Space Studies Board determined that the sample has no potential for containing life or other material of concern. The samples are handled in clean rooms to protect them from contamination by Earth material -- not the other way around. It depends on the system and how much gain you have prior to the amplifier. The level controls can be thought of as input attenuators. They do not limit the power available from the amplifier. With the level controls turned down the amplifier can still reach full rated output power, it just takes more drive level from your mixer to achieve it. See similar questions...

The input impedance of Crown amplifiers is high enough that paralleling multiple inputs together is not a problem. Using a standard "Y" cable works wonderfully. Without using a "Y" cable, the procedure is different depending upon the Crown amplifier used. Com-Tech amplifiers have barrier block inputs that make it easy to tie two or more channels together. With Macro-Tech amplifiers the 1/4" inputs are in parallel with the inputs of the PIP-FX. See similar questions...
