Make sure the symbol line color is different from the symbol fill color. Open the symbol map properties, click the button in the symbol group, and then check the line and fill colors in the symbol properties dialog box.

Q50. I am having a problem printing ("Out of global memory" error, only a portion of the map prints, etc.).

We have integrated the legend directly into our map: Simply leave your mouse pointer over the point you are interested in and an information box will display further information.

This is a known bug that we encountered when we moved the code to the SGI machines. I am aware of it and will fix it, hopefully in the near future. It is still available from the URL http://tiger.census.gov/cgi-bin/mapbrowser. When we added the new border graphics around the map, I couldn't figure out how to resize them on the fly while preserving the integrity of the border image. When I tried it, it became distorted.

Grapher 5 has added the ability to allow 0, 1, 2, or 3 symbols in a legend. To change the number of symbols displayed, click once on the legend to select it. In the Property Inspector, open the Legend Properties section. Select the desired number of symbols with the "Number of symbols" command. The graph will update automatically. Grapher 5 is not supported under Windows NT.

Map scales are set automatically by CC3. The value is stored in the drawing. You can view and change the default set scale in the Drawing Properties dialog (File >> Drawing Properties). The recommended scale for overland maps is (map width/1000), so for a map that is 500 miles wide, symbol scale should be set to 0.5. The station circle represents the cloud cover; open circle means clear; and a completely covered circle means 100% cloud cover (or fog). The line extending outward from the station circle is called a wind barb and represents the wind flow; where the wind is blowing from the direction of the barb (north is towards the top of the map and east is towards the viewer's right). The line(s) extending from the end of the barb are called feathers and represent the windspeed.

Open "CT Atlas". A menu will appear on the left side of the window with a list of all of the predefined CT maps. Click "Begin Printing" at the bottom of the list. See page 6 of "The Colorado Trail Users Guide" included in the CD box for further information on the CTAtlas.

The annexation map includes a solid yellow area that represents The City of Calgary's new annexation territory. The edge of the yellow area is now the new boundary for The City of Calgary. The hatched marks represent joint planning areas for the MD of Rocky View and The City of Calgary. The joint planning areas are located within both The City of Calgary and the MD of Rocky View. An Intermunicipal Development Plan Review with the MD of Rocky View will further define these joint planning areas.

When issuing a map request that contains only a legend spec with no drawable map data (not specifying any basemap/themes/features), MapViewer will generate a map image that contains only the map legend. You can then get the URL of this legend image and show the legend somewhere in your web application external to the map images generated. This is more efficient than embedding a legend in every generated map.

After a download has finished the "Download Report" dialog will appear. All symbols that are invalid will be displayed in this dialog. All you have to do is to click on the "Securities->Remove from Symbol List" menu. Then MLDownloader will remove all invalid symbols from all symbol lists automatically.

Each symbol is composed of the first two letters of the genus+first two letters of the species+first letter of the terminal infraspecific name+tiebreaking number (if needed). Genus and family symbols are the first five (genus) or six (family) letters of the name, plus tiebreaking number (if needed). Symbols were first used in the Soil Conservation Service’s National List of Scientific Plant Names (NLSPN), and have been perpetuated in the PLANTS system.

The maps come directly from the FAA. They are high resolution scans of actual current sectionals. We make a few adjustments to the maps to make them compatible with GlidePlan and post them on the site for downloading. Because these are government documents, you don't need to worry about copyright infringement when you print them, as they are in the public domain.
