Divorce records are generally in two parts: DIVORCE RECORDS & DIVORCE DECREES and are available through the Alaska Court System only. DIVORCE CERTIFICATES are available through the Bureau of Vital Statistics. DIVORCE RECORD: A divorce record is all of the pages filed in a divorce. In some divorce settlements the records can be several pages long. DIVORCE DECREE: A divorce decree is a ruling that summarizes the rights and responsibilities of the divorced parties.

Access to marriage and divorce records filed in the Bureau of Vital Statistics office is restricted for 50 years after the date of the event to the persons named on the certificate, their legal representatives, and persons who can prove they are legally entitled. When ordering a marriage or divorce record, you must state your relationship to the person named on the certificate or your reason for needing the record.

Divorce Decrees are filed within this office. Bring with you your index number, date of the action, and title of the action. Please be advised, only the parties involved or the attorney of record can obtain these documents. The fee for a certified copy of these records is $5.00 minimum for the first 4 pages and $1.25 for each additional page. If you are unable to come to the Office of the County Clerk, please send us your request in writing with your signature notarized.

Copies of Birth Certificates and Marriage Licenses are obtained from the County Office Building at 1504 Third Avenue, Rock Island or by calling 786-4451. Is there an ordinance for..........? You may obtain a copy from the court where the divorce became final, Or you can obtain one with your Town Clerk’s office. To obtain a copy from the Town Clerks office the divorce must have been finalized between 1990 and six months prior to the request. Divorce Decree Certificate Application

You may obtain a copy of your divorce decree from the Clerk of Superior Court in the county in which the divorce action was filed. Ordinarily there will be a fee for a copy of the decree.

Call the Clerk of Courts in the county where you were divorced and ask them to send you a copy of your decree. They may charge a small fee to make copies.

This is a copy, not an original, but it contains a certified stamp or raised seal prepared by the clerk of the court and signed by the judge. If you have any other helpful hints to share with our newly to be married...such as go barefoot, leave the stockings at home...or think of the children in your vows; or with some thing special such as a candle lighting or a ceremony giving each a family medallion... please share them with us.

Other than the parties of the marriage, only the brother/sister, child/step-child or grandchild, parent/step-parent or grandparent, authorized agent, attorney or legal representative is authorized to obtain a certified copy of a marriage certificate. The appropriate form must be completed.

You must either come in person to our office, or submit a written request. The written request must include the groom's name, the brides name at the time of the marriage, date of marriage and place of marriage. You MUST SIGN your request and give an address where we are to mail the certified copy. The fee for the certified copy must accompany your written request. The request is filled the day we receive it and it goes out in the next business day's mail.

If you have been married in the province of Ontario, you may apply for an official government copy of your marriage certificate from the Office of the Registrar General, at least 8 to 12 weeks after the ceremony has taken place. The application for this certificate can be obtained by clicking on the Request for Marriage or Death Certificates link or picked up at the City Clerk's office at City Hall.

If you applied for your marriage license in Harrison, then you may get a copy of your marriage certificate from the Town Clerk. Ask yourself where you got the license, rather than in what Town you were married, as that is where your license is filed. If you can't remember, you can get a copy from the Department of Health in Albany. Every dog over 6 months of age must be licensed. Licenses are obtained from the Town Clerk, and are valid for one year, and must be renewed annually.

A copy of a document filed in your divorce case can generally be obtained from the Judicial District Clerk's Office in the court location where the divorce took place. Your divorce decree is referred to as the "Judgment File." The Clerk's Office will need your case name and docket number (the number that was assigned to the case), and there are fees for copying and certifying.
