Yes. Emacs and XEmacs are available for Windows; they both understand and preserve UNIX end of line characters.

Macintosh files are stored on non-Macintosh drives in several ways. The most popular formats are MacBinary and BinHex. CDEveryWhere can decode these formats while writing the image. Typically MacBinary files have a ".bin" extension and BinHex files have ".hqx". By default, CDEveryWhere will decode these when included in the image. In the image preview, the Macintosh filename will appear instead of the ".bin" or ".hqx" filename.

It makes no difference what operating system you are running on your PC; Windows and Mac should work just fine. All you need is Internet access, a web browser that will let you get out on the Internet and access your site, and an FTP program that you can use to connect to your site.

This is because CorelDraw is not handling the non-displayable (Kern- Space) characters properly. A solution for this is provided for some script fonts by putting a 4small dot in the Kern-spaces so that they will overlap on the previous character. For example, in Devnagari fonts a small dot in kern-spaces has been put so that they overlap exactly on the Shirorekha of the previous character. But this is not always possible for all the Scripts (e.g. Bengali, Telugu, Kannada).

The Word-Wrap function in some applications does not know where to create a line break when text flows from one line to the next. Make sure you have the Auto Space button depressed before entering Japanese text into that application. If you have Office 97, you will be able to use a single byte Japanese font and will not be affected by this problem. Just make sure to have the Enable Unicode input option checked and choose the UWJMG3 (SJIS) or UWGOT (SJIS) font.

You may be noticing that one or two characters are added to the end of your text. For example, you might enter the text: The sky is blue. Later, when viewing the activity or page that includes this text, it might say: The sky is blue.2, This problem is caused by a bug in Netscape 4 on the Mac. If you are a Mac user, then we strongly recommend that you switch to Safari or Firefox. Quia does not support the use of Netscape 4 on a Mac.

There are three editors that you will usually find on most systems: Emacs, vi, and pico. Pico is the easiest to use, but it doesn't have as many features as Emacs or vi. Windows comes with two editors that are great for editing Perl, NotePad and WordPad. Which operating system you decide to use should depend on what features you need. For example, if you are already using IIS, ASP, VBScript, Windows Media, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, or Visual InterDev, and you don't have the time to learn Unix-based solutions, you'll have to choose a Windows NT or Windows 2000-based host. Just because your desktop is Windows-based doesn't mean you should use a Windows host.

Some files contain lists of URLs, with one URL per line. By default the software will not normally preserve this structure because long lines are usually concatenated into a single paragraph.

In addition, Toolkit includes standard UNIX utilities for handling bulk file copies (cpio, pax, and tar). To share files, you can use either NFS or Samba. UNIX text files use a line-feed character to indicate the end of a line, while Windows expects both a carriage return and a line-feed in its text files.

The script is tested on a Unix server not Windows. Each server is set-up in a different way, most will run the script without issue. Sadly I can not offer any technical support on setting up web servers.
