If you are using WinXP, you will find that the drivers are built into the operating system and they should install automatically through "adding new hardware. For all other Microsoft operating systems, you must obtain the drivers from Microsoft. For Linux, the driver information can be found here.

Click on the "Start" menu, - Go to - Click on the selection Hard Disk or Disk Drive to check if your FlyCASE has been recognised and the drivers are installed and activated. Your new hard disk should appear in the list. To make sure, all you need do is select Hard Disk/Disk Drive and disconnect your FlyCASE; your FlyCASE hard disk should disappear from the screen. Then reconnect it. Now it should reappear. Use the extensions manager to check that the drivers are installed and activated.

Drivers for 1394 Firewire controllers are built into Microsoft Operating Systems and/or Service Packs. Make sure you have all of the latest Microsoft updates installed. I get the error "File txtsetup.oem caused an unexpected error???" (or something very similar) when trying to install WinXP on a SATA drive on a VT8237 Southbridge.

FireWire works fine with the Intel 82801FR I/O Controller Hub (ICH6-R) on my 915P-based motherboard. This I/O bridge is featured on many newer Intel motherboards, and is probably similar (if not the same as) the chips used in the Dev Kits.

No driver or additional software is necessary. The FireWire controller of your MAC will detect the FlyCASE and automatically install the necessary drivers. In some cases, if the PowerBook is switched on before the FlyCASE is supplied and connected to the MAC, the FlyCASE will not be recognised. It is a recognised problem on this type of computer. The solution is to disconnect and hot reconnect the FireWire cable of the FlyCASE (after starting up the PowerBook).

No additional driver is necessary. Windows 98SE (second edition), Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP support FireWire as native. Your system will recognise FlyCASE and the drivers will be installed automatically. However, the FireWire driver included in Windows XP is the most efficient and optimised. To get the best performance from your FlyCASE, you are advised to use it with Windows XP and on a PC incorporating a 2 GHz CPU. Windows 98 and Windows NT do not support FireWire No.

When Researcher installs it creates a directory in the following location: C:\Program Files\FLIR Systems\Device drivers. All the drivers required for USB and Firewire cameras are in this location. They can also be found on the Researcher CD.

Firewire is an emerging high speed communication interconnect standard defined by IEEE-1394. An attractive advantage is that devices are hot pluggable (live connection/disconnection without data loss or interruption).
