The mole on Cary's cheek was removed between the filming of "Crisis" and "People Will Talk." That would be between 1950 & 1951.

The electrologist should check insurance coverage and state regulations before treating a mole. A physician's permission should also be obtained to protect the health of the patient. These precautions are presently necessary because treating moles is still controversial. There is no recorded damage due to treatment of a mole, and some insurance companies now cover this treatment.

A mole is also known as a nevus. Excision of a mole involves removing it by cutting it from the skin. The benefits of this procedure include removing protruding moles that get in the way of shaving; reducing skin irritation that happens when certain moles rub against clothing or jewelry; achieving smoother and clearer skin; and enhancing appearance and improving self-esteem.

Naked mole-rats are found in the semi-arid grassy regions of Eastern Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia).

Naked mole-rats are about seven centimeters (3 inches) long and weigh 30 to 70 grams (1 to 2.4 ounces).

In the wild, they eat tubers that they dig into from their tunnels. Some of the tubers can grow to 100 pounds!

Naked mole-rats cannot be kept as pets. They must live in large colonies, and they have fairly strict temperature and humidity requirements. They are high-maintenance animals and can live from ten to 30 years. Removing them from the wild in Africa is expensive, risky, and disruptive to the habitats of naked mole-rats and other animals. Naked mole-rats are kept and bred in highly controlled enclosures in some universities and zoos. Under no circumstances should they be kept as pets.

Naked mole-rats are rodents that live underground in eastern Africa. All other species of mole-rats live in Africa and the Middle East. Mole-rats are not considered pests. If you have moles (which are insectivores, not rodents) in your yard, you might wish to consult a plant specialist.

Moles typically die underground and naturally decompose. If you find one on the surface, simply wrap it in newspaper and place it into your garbage can. Wash hands thoroughly afterwards. (Back to top)

Surface – a smooth mole develops scaliness, erosion, oozing, crusting, ulceration, and bleeding

Though moles rarely come above ground, it is a possibility, and your dog or cat may want to play with the mole. Because of mole illnesses, a mole lurking on your property can pose a danger to domestic dogs and cats. Your dog or cat will likely be tempted to dig moles to the surface in your yard, which will also cause more lawn damage.

The surgeon employs a scalpel to cut the mole and a border of good skin surrounding it. The surgeon will decide on the size of this border. Stitches are positioned either deep within the skin, or on the upper surface, depending on the depth of the excision. For the procedure that entails no stitches, a scalpel is applied to shave the mole allowing it to be flush with the surrounding skin. Next, via an electrical instrument, the doctor cauterizes the area to prevent any bleeding.

The quantity of discomfort subsequently differs on the method used. If there is discomfort, it can be alleviated with prescribed pain medication. A scab will likely develop and then heal within a week or two. In addition, any redness that takes place will vanish within two to four weeks. Most scars that do appear slowly fade over time.

As a legend has it, a Nun, Sor Andrea, in Puebla's Santo Rosa Convent, developed a Mole Poblano sauce in the 1600's that is still popular today. First, identify the active tunnel systems. Then bait only these active areas by punching a finger-sized hole in the tunnel, placing TOMCAT MOLE KILLER into the tunnel and carefully covering the hole.
