Motorcycles, being heavier and almost always having manual transmissions, are more difficult to ride. Cars can be cheap, but with even the smallest of them being fairly large, they can be difficult to park, store, or drive in certain situations. Mopeds are restricted to top speeds of 25 to 30 mph, depending on where you live, which seriously limits where you can ride them... some scooters are fast enough to ride on freeways. If you are just going to scoot around close to home then a 50cc will be okay, but if you plan to scoot all over town we recommend a 150cc. 50cc scooters will go a maximum of 40-50 mph, depending on the model; 150cc scooters maximum of 60-65 mph; and 250cc scooters will max out at about 80-85 mph. Mopeds are lightweight vehicles that have small engines with less than 50cc displacement and usually don't reach speeds above 30 mph. While you do need a driver license to operate a moped on public roads, the vehicles don't require insurance or registration.
