I use a consumer grade digital SLR (Canon Digital Rebel) and several different lenses (Canon EFS 17-85mm, Canon EF 70-300mm, Sigma 30mm 1.4 EX DC), and most importantly, 'the eye'.

The scanned images are imported to JASC Paint Shop Pro (currently version 6.02), to perform any necessary resizing, cropping, color adjustment, Gamma Correction, brightness and/or contrast adjustments.

I use an iRiver 799 to record, a great little mp3 player that also records straight into mp3 format, and lets you fiddle around with recording levels etc. I believe it has been discontinued now, but if you can find a small iRiver with the crucial line-in input (for the mic), hopefully it will do the job just as well. I primarily use 3D Studio R4 for DOS and 3D Studio MAX 1.2 for NT4 from Kinetix. These are VERY expensive programmes, so unless you have access to a computer with this program, I am afraid that we can't give away some of our most complex meshes. Smaller meshes loadable by most software are now available on the meshes download page (see links on the main menu) . SFX are added by many different routines called Ipas'es in 3D Studio and Plug-ins in 3D Studio Max. These handle most of the effects.

I have never seen TCS in concert and know nothing about instruments. But luckily, list member Dave Lapham provides the following information: "After the shows I've seen, I can tell you that the acoustic guitars the guys played were all Takamine (Frank's was a 12-string), John played a basic Fender Strat as well, through a Fender Twin Reverb amp. Our main server is a Hewlett Packard 9000 series server with a Unix operating system. Dispatchers use standard Wintel workstations with a Unix software interface. Our Capitol HIll espresso machine is a 3-group semiautomatic La Marzocco Linea. At the Arlington shop, it's a 3-group Synesso Cyncra. Our coffee brewers are FETCO Extractor Series. For espresso grinders, Mazzer/Rio Normales. For drip brew coffee, Malhkonig grinders.

For 35mm format, we use a professional Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED film scanner. This is not a flatbed scanner aimed at the consumer market. Flatbeds do a good job with larger negatives, but aren't up to the task for scanning slides and negatives as small as 35mm. That's why we use a dedicated film scanner designed specifically for scanning 35mm slides and negatives. We chose Nikon for its superior optics.

In almost every case we're going to excavate with a trackhoe. This is a big machine with a large bucket and is the primary reason the excavator is able to finish a pool almost every day. If, however, the situation calls for us to dig with a bobcat or rubber-tired backhoe, it's not a problem.
