The FL3102 DFIR has the ability to see a fire through heavy black smoke. The FL3100 may not see the fire since the black smoke would block the UV side. The “COPM” self checking only tests the lamps, windows for dirt and the UV and IR detector circuits. It does not test the relays or the 0-20mA stepped output. The TL103 allows you to test everything including the relays and output from the 0-20mA.

The FL3100 is immune to lightning and arc welding. Many compressor stations and other applications are located in areas where lightning is present.

The Optical detector is an electronic device containing electro-optical sensors that are sensitive to electromagnetic radiation in the UV, VIS, IR spectral bands. The Optical detector "sees" the fire by detecting the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the combustion products.

In addition to the superior color rendering abilities, SoLux has been engineered to have very low heat (IR) output and ultra-low UV output. That combined aspect of extremely high color rendering and extremely low UV and low IR is extraordinary. It means that with SoLux, you will have the brilliance of daylight without the negatives aspects of UV and IR. The result is a superior presentation that won't cook or bleach the subject being illuminated.

The UV/IR detector is designed for Class I, Division 1 (Class I, Zone 1) hazardous locations. It should be located in a manner so as to monitor areas of potential hazard. The distance between the detector and potential hazard is dependant on the fuel source and intensity of the UV/IR radiation source. The table below shows the maximum detection range with the UV/IR set to the highest sensitivity level for sample fuels.

Since the UV/IR requires two different radiation sources to alarm, it minimizes false alarm events. False alarms are also minimized due to immunity to lightning, arc welding, sunlight, and hot body radiation.

Net Safety has developed a test lamp specifically for the UV/IR to be tested while in a hazardous location. Simply point the lamp at the UV/IR and press the button. The UV/IR is also designed with an Automatic Visual Integrity (VI) feature, which tests the detector's optical surface every 90 seconds, and a Manual Visual Integrity feature to help with maintenance planning. The UV/IR can also be tested while in a non-hazardous area using a real fire.

The fastest method to detect the above energies is the Optical analysis of the radiation emitted in a combustion process. The Optical detectors detect the radiation energy emitted by the chemical processes that take place in a fire.

We are installing a 1223B with dual sensors per channel for an H2 plant. Is it possible to simulate a signal check for each channel module? If so, please advise the signal type and its equivalent range to 0-100% LEL.

The Music Player does not provide any IR inputs. However, it is possible to provide IR control of a Music Player indirectly through an external control system such as those offered by Crestron or AMX.

The UV/IR has a two output options: analog or analog relay. Please state your requirements at the time of ordering.

Ultraviolet (UV) light is at the invisible, violet end of the light spectrum. Even though we can't see UV light, we are exposed to UV rays from all light sources, including the sun.

Net Safety recommends using our Laser Alignment Tool. This device is temporarily placed over the fire head and the laser is used to establish the correct line of sight. Once positioned, the swivel mount is tightened to lock the detector in place and the Alignment Tool is removed.

We discourage the use of metal detectors on Forest Service lands to protect and preserve cultural and historic artifacts. Also, you should be aware that the National Historic Preservation Act generally prohibits collecting anything 50 years old or older.
